Schoolboy’s “Look At The Lights” Remix Out Now

artist schoolboySchoolboy has been turning a few heads for some time now with electro hits like his remix of Knife Party’s “Antidote.” Gaining support from artists like Kill The Noise, Mord Fustang, Dirtyphonics and Excision, the L.A. resident has a knack of creating songs that make you want to jump and dance no matter where you are. This week, Schoolboy gave us a preview of an upcoming release that does just that.

Produced by Kyro and Bomber, featuring Tigerlilly, Schoolboy’s remix of “Look At The Lights” begins with these gorgeous vocals over an upbeat melody with a universal euphoric vibe. The track then goes into dance floor mode with a buildup guided by steady a drum fill and then dives headfirst into low, choppy wubs and enough glitches to appease any fidget house fan.

Finally out on Onelove, this track is definitely one to look out for when Schoolboy performs at Club Cirque. Tickets are now on sale, so buy yours today!

Club Cirque Artist Profile: Nerd Rage

artist nerd rageWhen you see Club Cirque artist Nerd Rage perform live, you’ll notice that his music and stage presence are synonymous with each other. Self-described as loud, aggressive, and in-your-face, the 25 year old jokester continues to create music with good vibes, whether he’s behind the decks or in the studio.

Born in Tampa, FL, Devin Spears has always been an avid lover of music. Playing bass in a metal band when he was in high school, his love for dance music would come later, “I didn’t get into electronic music until I graduated,” creating mostly trance and drum and bass. He began DJing under the moniker DJ Sonic, later scoring a DJ night at G.Bar in Ybor City. As his local fanship grew, so did the amount of shows a week.

Often playing some of his own productions when he performed, Devin developed a strong sense of what type of sound he wanted to create. “Being aware of what I like in music allows me to figure out what I like in a melody, how I like my song to move, how I could picture people grooving to it, how I would groove to it. If I’m sitting in my studio and working on a song and getting tired of it, then I don’t feel like it’s going to be a good tune. But if I’m sitting in front of my computer and laughing and actually rocking along with my tune as I’m writing it, I know it’s going to be great. I know it’s going to do well if I play it live.”

With a clear direction on music creation, a name change and endorsements from some heavy hitters, the Nerd Rage project debuted with the track “Real Life” with Bro Safari in 2011. “A friend of mine suggested [the name] Nerd Rage, and they thought it was really funny, because I play a lot of video games with my friends, and I’m pretty much a nerd. All music producers, in some way, shape or fashion, are huge nerds.” The nerdy single rose to the top of the heap hitting Beatport’s top 10 and was also featured on Beatport’s weekly “Top 10 Must Hear Dubstep Tracks” chart.

Currently, Nerd Rage is turning out originals and remixes left and right with tracks like “Power Treaty” and OCTiV’s “Fatality.” You might hear these gems when Nerd Rage takes the stage inside the bass tent at Club Cirque, but what else might you hear? “I like to bring the full element of metal into the vibe while I’m on stage. Very loud, aggressive, mosh pits, and stage diving. Nonstop jumping and screaming. I want to make sure everyone is able to have the best and most memorable time possible when it comes to the energy and music.”

Let’s get loud with Nerd Rage at the Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, October 19th. Do you have your tickets yet? Tickets are now on sale, buy your tickets today!

Club Cirque Artist Profile: Torro Torro

artist torro torroIt’s hard not to hear a Torro Torro track or remix played at festivals and parties around the world. The duo knows exactly how to create a perfect brand of dance music that’s influenced by hip hop and tropical rhythms.

Based out of Toronto, the duo of Mike (“Digits”) Gonek and Evan “Yo Ev” Norton, met simply by a mutual friend. Mike says, “We had a mutual friend who told me Evan wanted to start a project. I had been involved in a bunch of different production projects prior to Torro Torro and, like Evan, I was looking for something where I could really get my hands dirty on deejaying and the production side of electro and house music. When our friend introduced us to one another, we kinda just clicked.”

Both studying at the University of Toronto, the two explored the world of dance music production. Evan, “Out of the gate, we were both learning the craft of electronic production. At that point, it was two heads going into the studio, and spending a lot of hours trying to navigate through the experience of producing, seeing what formulas worked, and crafting our own sound. Now, we’ve come to the point where there’s a certain balance between the two of us working together in the studio, and each of us spending our own time to craft ideas and find stuff that we’d like to share and hone in on once we’re back together.”

The two first started turning heads in 2009 with their remix of Barletta’s “Panther” and of AutoErotique’s “Gladiator.” Always bringing the same high intensity big room sound that keeps crowds asking for more, their track “Knockin Boots,” released on Tittsworth’s T&A Records, was a certified electro banger being played on dance floors around the world.

Lately, 2013 saw Torro Torro return with three chart topping remixes, one for Interscope Records and two others released on Ultra Music. Opening the year with their remix of “Bless Di Nation” for Congorock and Sean Paul, the two are still riding high from their massive remixes for Zedd’s “Clarity” and Zeds Dead’s “Cowboy,” which both sat near the top of the Beatport charts for weeks after their respective releases.

We’re excited to have our boots knocked by Torro Torro when they perform at Club Cirque in Tampa, FL on Saturday, October 19th. Have you bought your tickets yet?

Club Cirque Artist Profile: Crizzly

artist crizzlyIf you like to get crunk then head over to the bass tent at Club Cirque in Tampa on Saturday, October 19th to witness Crizzly perform live. Have you bought your tickets yet?

Growing up in a small town outside of San Antonio, Christopher Marshall never had much of a dance scene to speak of. He could never burrow through record stores all day discovering music. So a young Christopher found most of his musical inspiration from videos on the internet, “I was an only child ’til I was 11 and still never lived with my other siblings. I had a lot of time to myself in my room and I’d either play video games all day or just surf the web. One day I was digging through myspace music and came across Justice. Their sound really got me wanting to make dancey stuff. But before I knew who they were I played guitar and wanted to at least be in my school’s talent show.”

By the age of 15, he started dabbling in production, calling his early bedroom-made creations “weird stuff.” Finally stumbling onto dance music production when he was 19, Crizzly acquired a set of turntables shortly thereafter. the first gigs he scored were usually birthday parties. Though the dance music scene was near non-existent, Crizzly surrounded himself with music as much as he could, “…before I started making music, I was a promoter. And not even a promoter for a club, just promoting music in general. Like just trying to get people to come to some random shows.”

Crizzly started making a name for himself making bootlegs of hip hop songs that he heard on YouTube, releasing his own versions of “Hard in Da Paint” by Club Cirque talent Waka Flocka and also doing some edits on “Snap Back Swag” from AJ Hernz. The worldwide blogosphere loved the the tracks and soon after websites began sharing his cuts, Crizzly began to develop a strong following.

After scoring a gig at the 2011 Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, Crizzly used some impressive guerrilla tactics to get his music heard. Armed with 20 USB drives loaded with his music, Crizzly passed the sticks around to some of the industry’s heaviest hitters. “I made it a mission to pass them out to my favorite producers. I was nervous, but I gave it to Diplo. He listened, and now he plays ‘Hard in Da Paint’ in his set.” His track “Snap Back Swag” was also added to a few Skrillex live sets as well.

Blending dubstep and hip hop to create his signature “crunkstep,” Crizzly describes his sound as “…definitely a mixture of two different worlds, dance music and hip-hop. People can connect because there’s a lot going on, and there’s more than one dimension. The audience responds immediately too. Since there’s a half-time feel, the blend just makes sense. It feels right to me.” Currently reading for the All Black Everything tour with Figure, you can get a peek of the action when Crizzly performs at Club Cirque on October 21st. What can you expect? “I play a lot of hard stuff. I expend a ton of energy. I want the fans to get buck wild, crazy, and crunk. I want them to make some bad decisions and have fun. Expect a mirage of crunk. If things go right, everyone should be naked 30 minutes in,” said Marshall. “I bring a bottle of crunk to every show. It’s not easy to bring on a plane, but I get away with it.”

Come get crunk (naked not required) at the inaugural Club Cirque when Crizzly takes over the bass tent. Buy your tickets today!

Club Cirque Artist Profile: Waka Flocka

artist waka flockaWith over five years in the rap game, Club Cirque artist Waka Flocka Flame is certainly no newcomer to the music industry. Topping Billboard’s US Rap chart with his studio albums at #1 and #2, Waka is about to embark on a new journey with his third album which will go hard in the paint for dance music.

Born Juaquin Malphurs in Jamaica, Queens, Waka grew up outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Musically maturing on his ascent to the top, his first mixtape, Salute Me or Shoot Me, Vol. 1 featured Waka Flocka’s breakout single “O Let’s Do It.” The single hit #7 on the Billboard’s US Rap chart and #62 on Billboard’s Hot 100. After a stellar debut, Waka followed up with another smash hit in 2010 with “Hard In Da Paint,” the lead single on his debut artist album Flockaveli. Produced by the legendary Lex Luger, the track is easily recognizable by the synth brass leads and the machine gun drum samples. With a key change midway through the track, “Hard In Da Paint,” as you would imagine, hits hard. Flockaveli debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 and he was named the eighth hottest MC of 2010 by MTV.

With his career continuing to pick up speed, in 2012 Waka released his sophomore album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, & Family. The album featured Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Flo Rida and Drake who was featured on the popular track “Round Of Applause.”

Currently, Waka Flocka is readying for his third album, Flockaveli II. With Atlantic Records as his new label, Waka is making some new changes in his career. “I’m highly educated now music industry wise. I’m not just somebody jumping into a field I don’t know. I actually learned it through a couple of methods, put my blueprint out on display and it worked not just for me and the company I was working with, but numerous people’s careers. Basically I know my shit now–I know what I need to win.” The album, due out in 2014, will feature dance music heavy weights Skrillex, Diplo, and the trap twosome, Flosstradamus.

We’re excited to see Waka’s latest evolution when he joins Steve Aoki and Borgore to take over Club Cirque’s main tent with the Aokify America Tour. “I’m not bullsh*ttin’ with this album. I’m going hard.” Get ready for the second coming of Waka Flocka Flame on Saturday, October 19th. Tickets are still available, so grab yours today!

Club Cirque Artist Profile: Borgore

artist borgoreProducer, DJ, rapper and singer Borgore is undeniably one of the leaders of today’s bass movement. Known for pioneering a new style to a then burgeoning genre, this self-proclaimed “Ruiner of Dubstep” (and provocation addict) may have ruined dubstep, but he did it in the best way possible.

Hailing from Tel Aviv, Israel, Asaf Borger completely immersed himself in music at a very early age. He first took to the piano at the age of three, moving onto the saxophone and drums throughout most of his formative years. While he studied classical and jazz in school, his passion for the style dwindled, “Anyone can draw squares but for it to be art you have to convince people you are a talented artist who can draw whatever you feel like, and in that case it’s a square. In order for me to make whatever music I feel like, I had to be very familiar with music’s basics.”

Getting his feet wet in the industry before his 21st birthday, Asaf played drums in the death metal band Shabira before making his mark on the world as Borgore. Drumming experience has helped him in the long run as he began gaining exposure due to his unique style using triplet drum patterns. His debut release, Gorestep Vol. 1 featured the underground classic “Love,” which was loved by almost all audiences, partially because of its questionable lyrics. But how did the release become so popular? Borgore provided some insight, “I would have say Myspace, a good team behind me, fans and a lot of luck. There’s endless amount of talent but sometimes in order to get big, you just need to be at the right place at the right time. To be fair, I didn’t get much money during my first tour in the US but it was about self promotion. While most produced deep dubstep, I made heavy dubstep with retarded lyrics which makes the link between the common commercial hip hop-loving American to the UK electro scene easier for most.”

Every year since his first release, Borgore’s popularity has continued on an upward incline. This year has been no different as the provocateur started off with his with the viral success of his single “Decisions” with celebutante Miley Cyrus. His release with Carnage titled “Incredible,” hit #1 on Beatport and quickly became a staple at Miami Music Conference this season.

Currently getting ready to embark on a nationwide tour with Steve Aoki and Waka Flocka, we are excited to welcome Borgore and the Aokify America Tour to the inaugural Club Cirque, taking over Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on October 21st. If you’re about that #TURNTLIFE, then grab your tickets today be a part of the action!

Club Cirque Artist Profile: Schoolboy

artist schoolboyIf you’ve been keeping up with dubstep charts over the past few years, then you would have seen Schoolboy up near the top of them recently. Quickly establishing his name in dance music, Schoolboy has long been a fan of music in general. “Well, I’ve been fascinated by the inner workings of synthesizers ever since my early teens; the Roland MC-303 was the first piece of hardware I laid hands. Prior to producing I had a few guitar and piano lessons later performed in a few bands that further inspired me to produce music all my own. But what led me to produce in the first place had to do with a few albums – Robert Miles’ Dreamland was an album I would listen to religiously at the age of twelve, It changed my perception towards electronic music, so much emotion. The Prodigy ‘Fat of the Land’ had a huge impact as well.”

Though he had been releasing music on Cold Blank’s imprint Burn The Fire, after releasing his massive remix of Swedish House Mafia and Knife Party’s “Antidote” in 2012, Schoolboy garnered an incredible amount of support from the dance music community. Original bangers like “Checkmate” and “Always Be There” cemented the new talent as “one to watch.”

His highly anticipated The Science Project EP, released on Excision’s Rottun label in early 2012, has six bass-led tracks, like “Zombies Ate My Neighbours,” which quickly climbed the Beatport charts and became a fan favorite. His EP wasn’t the only release to do well. His remixes of “Why I Love You So” by Cassius, “Da Funk” by Daft Punk, and “Walk In The Fire” by Dirtyphonics gained support from the likes of Steve Aoki, Zomboy, Dieselboy and Skrillex – the list goes on.

This year has been proven successful for the fresh talent. His release “Aftershock” topped Beatport’s electro house chart and his “Project No-Autotune” dominated the Beatport drum and bass charts and stayed at the #1 spot for weeks straight. Throughout the year, he’s released collaborations with Borgore, James Egbert and Carnage with plenty more on the horizon. We’ll always be there when Schoolboy takes over the bass tent at Club Cirque 2013. Tickets are now on sale, so grab yours today!
