Club Cirque Artist Profile: Schoolboy

artist schoolboyIf you’ve been keeping up with dubstep charts over the past few years, then you would have seen Schoolboy up near the top of them recently. Quickly establishing his name in dance music, Schoolboy has long been a fan of music in general. “Well, I’ve been fascinated by the inner workings of synthesizers ever since my early teens; the Roland MC-303 was the first piece of hardware I laid hands. Prior to producing I had a few guitar and piano lessons later performed in a few bands that further inspired me to produce music all my own. But what led me to produce in the first place had to do with a few albums – Robert Miles’ Dreamland was an album I would listen to religiously at the age of twelve, It changed my perception towards electronic music, so much emotion. The Prodigy ‘Fat of the Land’ had a huge impact as well.”

Though he had been releasing music on Cold Blank’s imprint Burn The Fire, after releasing his massive remix of Swedish House Mafia and Knife Party’s “Antidote” in 2012, Schoolboy garnered an incredible amount of support from the dance music community. Original bangers like “Checkmate” and “Always Be There” cemented the new talent as “one to watch.”

His highly anticipated The Science Project EP, released on Excision’s Rottun label in early 2012, has six bass-led tracks, like “Zombies Ate My Neighbours,” which quickly climbed the Beatport charts and became a fan favorite. His EP wasn’t the only release to do well. His remixes of “Why I Love You So” by Cassius, “Da Funk” by Daft Punk, and “Walk In The Fire” by Dirtyphonics gained support from the likes of Steve Aoki, Zomboy, Dieselboy and Skrillex – the list goes on.

This year has been proven successful for the fresh talent. His release “Aftershock” topped Beatport’s electro house chart and his “Project No-Autotune” dominated the Beatport drum and bass charts and stayed at the #1 spot for weeks straight. Throughout the year, he’s released collaborations with Borgore, James Egbert and Carnage with plenty more on the horizon. We’ll always be there when Schoolboy takes over the bass tent at Club Cirque 2013. Tickets are now on sale, so grab yours today!
