Disco Donnie Presents is 'Getting Wet' with Krewella on tour!

Self-made trio Krewella are undeniably one of the hottest acts out right now. From their early beginnings at underground raves in the warehouses of Chicago, sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf and producer Kris “Rain Man” Trindl first burst onto the scene in 2011. Though they garnered a substantial following for their unique blend of electro house, dubstep, and lyrics, it would skyrocket after they self-released their critically acclaimed Play Hard EP in the summer of 2012. The extended player hit #1 on the Beatport charts and the single “Alive” went to #1 on Billboard’s Dance Radio Airplay.

And although it hasn’t even been a year since the success of that release, Krewella has gone on to headline and sell out shows and festivals around the world and also won the IDMA for “Best Breakthrough Artist.” Even Billboard said, “Krewella will be huge this year.”

As the trio prepares to release their first full-length album Get Wet on Columbia Records in September, we are excited to be a part of the Krewlife as Disco Donnie Presents will be bringing Krewella’s Get Wet Live Tour to a city near you. Adding support to the impending fall tour are fresh talents Seven Lions and Candyland.

Sun City Music Festival Artist Profile: Scuba

Paul Rose’s output as Scuba has been classified under many styles. Getting an early jumpstart, Scuba has submersed himself (no pun intended) in all aspects of music. “I played in bands from quite a young age. I played guitar and keyboards and various other things. I was quite into guitar-playing, but I always more into writing music than playing it, from quite early on…So I did the band thing for a while, had some bad band experiences, as lots of people have, and I guess I gradually got into electronic music by the typical route really — started going out and going to clubs and gradually got into the music as well as the going out part of it.” DJ, producer and promoter, Scuba sunk his teeth into jungle and techno in London, and eventually became involved with local pirate radio and participated in some of the city’s biggest club nights.

Having founded the Hotflush imprint early in his career, the label has been home to most of his releases. Though his initial productions were primarily dark, spacious dubstep tracks, but he developed a looser, funkier, and melodic approach to his sound, while simultaneously using his SCB alias for his house and techno releases. After cementing his and the label’s name in the London scene, Scuba relocated to Berlin in 2007. His debut album A Mutual Antipathy released a year after his move, showcased the then unheard of marriage of techno and dubstep. His second album, Triangulation explored a wider range of styles, featuring not only dubstep and techno, but relaxed house and minimal drum and bass.

Currently, you can find Scuba holding down a number of gigs all around the world. His recent mixes for Ibizia Spotlight highlight just how well Scuba has continuously evolved and remastered his sound. With a knack to take any dance floor on a uniquely innovative journey, Scuba has undeniably become a key figure for the current pulse of Europe’s music trends. We’re sure you’ll get a truly one-of-a-kind experience when Scuba takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival, going down on August 31st and September 1st. Sun City Music Festival Sound Clash: Brodinski, Markus Schulz

Whether you’re a fan of the act of slaying unicorns, or maybe you just long to have a budding bromance, there is no denying the talent of Sun City Music Festival acts Brodinski and Markus Schulz. We think think that both groups of fans can agree – these guys always go hard in their sets, even if their sound is completely different.

Brodinski

This Frenchman has been on a roll ever since his first release in 2007. Fans were immediately drawn to his well-executed fusion of house, techno, electro progressive and hip-hop. Sometimes, his tracks are impossible to define by genre, which makes his sound all the more intriguing. With his imprint Bromance Records just shy of hitting the two year mark, Brodinski has given his friends a platform to release their innovative and punchy sounds, taking in elements from a wide spectrum of electronic music. Early releases from the label like “Let The Beat Control Your Body” and “Nobody Rules These Streets” with labelmate LOUISAHHH!!! were stand out hits and championed by eclectic acts like Chuckie, Porter Robinson, A-Trak, Style of Eye, and Sun City talents Danny Avila and Gesaffelstein.

Whenever Brodinski takes the stage you can expect crazy jaw-dropping twists, cheer-inducing drops, some ridiculous breakbeat or trap fills, but most importantly, you can expect to have a lot of fun. Get ready to join the party, because Brodinski will be throwing a lot of curveballs your way when he performs at this year’s Sun City Music Festival coming to Ascarate Park August 31 and September 1st. Grab your tickets today!

Markus Schulz

As a man of many tastes and talents, Markus Schulz has never stuck with one sound. For the past decade, Markus has crafted and honed in on his style with multiple music identities. As Dakota, Markus has streamlined his tech and progressive house side. As New World Punx, a duo with other dance music legend Ferry Corsten, Markus gets to let out his high-energy trance side. But whether his music ranges through the melodic progressive styles, percussion driven house, or the driving trance platform, one thing’s for certain, and that is his ability to control and astonish any crowd. Especially with his legendary marathon sets.

Fans of Markus have cheekily coined him the “unicorn slayer” referring to his signature hard-driving productions. “By ‘unicorn,’ people mean tracks with really fluffy melodies,” Markus says. “I don’t do this; I’m more into square waves and pitch bends.” You can catch the slayer Labor Day Weekend when he takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival. Disco Donnie Presents gets a "Moment of Clarity" with Zedd

German prodigy Zedd has had an undeniably amazing 2013. And the best part is, he’s still got halfway to go. With much talked about performances on The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, it’s easy to see why he has been named an MTV Artist to Watch and has been called “the breakout DJ star of 2013” by Billboard. “Clarity,” the title track from Zedd’s debut album, features Foxes and has already been certified gold and still continues to climb charts months after its release.

Still riding high on that success, the wunderkind has announced that he is embarking on a world tour. Moment of Clarity will feature 26 stops scheduled between August 28 and October 3 of this year, with final dates still yet to be set in stone.

Zedd says, “For the past six months, I’ve been working on a light and visual show for my tour. We’ve built tons special content and improved the production day by day, step by step. With the Moment of Clarity World Tour, I want to capture this moment and present it to my fans around the world!”

Joining him on this adventure are talents Oliver and Alex Metric. We’re excited to bring Zedd’s Moment of Clarity tour to a city near you.

Whether it be from charting because of your production or charting for overall career success, we’d like to extend our congratulations to four of our talented lineup picks for gracing charts all over the internet. Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, and Digweed picked for MusicRadar’s 25 greatest DJs in the world today

To celebrate the inaugural MusicRadar DJ Expo, the site asked their readers and music fans of the internet to nominate and vote for the greatest DJ in the world today. Cross-referencing the results of the poll with the artists’ overall sales on Beatport, they drew up a shortlist of 25 names.

#1: Armin van Buuren

Sun City Music Festival headliner and trance icon Armin van Buuren is a bit of a global phenomenon. His weekly radio show A State Of Trance is broadcast on stations in over 26 countries with listeners in an upwards of over 20 million. He’s headlines the biggest clubs and dance music festivals in the world on a seemingly daily basis.

“I’m extremely happy to win this year’s greatest DJ Poll. To me it’s very special to know that so many people take the time to go online on MusicRadar and vote. It’s truly the best feeling, to get recognition from the people I do it for: the fans! Thank you!”

#7: Tiësto

This Sun City Music Festival act and enduring winner of DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll has done it all. From record-breaking marathon sets to performing at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games to an audience of billions. Not only is he a DJ hero in real life, but he also plays one as a character in the video game with the same title. The Dutchman even has a wax statue at Madame Tussauds. Simply stated, Tiësto is a performer who has transcended musical genres and created brand.

#10: John Digweed

Almost 25 years into his career, UK house legend and Sun City act John Digweed is showing no signs of slowing down. He’ll regularly be found playing all-night sets in clubs across world, proving he still has the passion and the technical skill to stay at the forefront of house music.

On a recent Facebook status, Digweed laments, “I normally don’t pay too much attention to DJ polls but it is truly amazing to see how much support I still have after all these years. I feel so lucky to have such amazing fans. Thanks to everyone who has ever come to a show, bought a release, listened to my radio show… you make it all worthwhile.”

Stefano Noferini’s latest single “The End” climbs Beatport Top 20

Champion of house music in all its forms and Sun City talent Stefano Noferini has been in the dance music game for quite some time. In his home country of Italy, he is one of the most-respected DJs and producers, having been a pivotal force in Italy’s up and coming house music scene.

Earlier this week, Stefano finally released what critics have been calling his “biggest track of the year on the revered Spinnin’ Records. The psychedelically driven track, “The End” features a vintage sample from The Doors and a pounding beat that you can’t help but to dance to. Within days, the track is now already at #13 on Beatport’s house chart. We’re sure you’ll hear this techy banger when Stefano Noferi makes his way to this year’s Sun City Music Festival.

Sun City Music Festival Artist Profile: TJR

We love TJR’s outlook on his performances. “I want people to let loose. I want them to let out their inner freak. Be as weird as you want — I’m going to be weirder than anyone up on stage.” So if you’re ready to get a little weird, join us at Sun City Music Festival coming to El Paso this coming Labor Day Weekend. Tickets are available online and in select stores.

Born TJ Rozdilsky, TJR grew up in the state of Connecticut, before taking a move to Los Angeles in 2010, immersing himself in the benefits of America’s hot spot for dance music. Though he is deeply rooted in his acid house and techno roots since in 2008, TJR has since built quite the arsenal of remixes and original tracks. Always cooking up big room bangers, TJR has received massive support from DJ’s like Sun City’s own Tiësto and Steve Aoki to other names like Fatboy Slim, Benny Benassi, Dada Life, Calvin Harris, and Umek.

First gaining exposure as a promising new edition to the electro and fidget house circuit, TJR has a love for dirty analog bass, deep, chugging techno grooves, and quirky vocals which he layers into his signature cross-over sound. His first extended player Bass In The Face, out of Lee Mortimer’s Wearhouse Music, gained TJR some global recognition but it would be early tracks like “Booty Move,” “This World,” “Good Evening Chicago,” and “I Don’t Know Where” that would all climb high on the Beatport charts.

Watching TJR perform live is something equally special. He has a knack for embracing diversity, blending different genres together into his energetic sound. We’re sure it’s helped that he’s also competed and won many DJ battles, simply stating, “producing fulfills my creative side, but DJing is my release. I grew up listening to mixtapes from Chicago house DJs like Badboy Bill and Terry Mullan, these guys brought hip hop turntable techniques to house music and made it acceptable.”

So what can you expect at a TJR show? Expect a lot of scratching, a lot of samples and working the crossfaders, so much so that he’s constantly breaking the nobs. But he doesn’t see it happening any other way. “I want people to see there’s actually something going on behind the decks.” And that we have. You can catch TJR doing ‘something behind the decks’ when he takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival coming to El Paso August 31st and September 1st.

Connect with TJR on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and SoundCloud!
