Disco Donnie Presents and NightCulture are excited to announce that pioneering producing DJ, Tiësto, will be making his way down to Houston, Texas for the return of the city’s first-ever Halloween dance music festival, Something Wicked. Taking place on Saturday, October 26th, prepare to be frighteningly amazed by our freakish production and special effects.
Whether he’s performing to 250,000 fans on the shores of Ipanema or maybe to the millions of adoring clubbers in all corners of the world, there is no denying the grave impact Tiësto has had on the dance music industry. The man has transcended musical genres to create his own global brand. Many don’t know that some of his first productions were in the hardcore/gabber categories. As his sound progressed, he then dominated the trance genre. Now, you can find him sporting big room anthems, trap, and house music in his eclectic sets and podcast.
Musically, Tiësto has been experimenting more than ever before. “You would be surprised to hear what is on my personal playlist. I like all kinds of music and as I continue to develop as an artist I do not feel I should be confined to any one sound or expected genre. I draw influences from various sources whether it be movies, the people I meet, and of course all the amazing places I have been lucky enough to visit. This is definitely one of the best things about being a DJ.”
Tiësto’s achievements in music extend past the genres themselves though. He’s a Grammy nominee, winner of numerous MTV awards, performer at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, has a street named after him in Las Vegas called “Tiësto Way,” January 1st in Vegas is now officially known as “Tiësto Day,” and the veteran even has a wax statue at Madame Tussauds.
