Monster Block Party Artist Profile: Borgore

artist borgoreMonster Block Party talent Asaf Borger has come a long way from his home in Tel Aviv, Israel. Professionally known as Borgore, his roots in bass music were influenced by triplet drum patterns and heavy metal. The artist describes his music as “Gorestep,” incorporating sounds that are related to horror movies, farm animals and sex. As a trained musician and drummer, 26-year old Borgore has always had a leg up for the competition. “My music sounds like commercial American hip hop and death metal being played through various farm animals.”

Borgore got involved in music at very young age. He started playing piano at the age of three, moving onto the saxophone and drums throughout most of his formative years. The producer got his feet wet in the music industry before his 21st birthday as a drummer in the Israeli death metal band Shabira. This experience helped his sound in the long run, creating a unique style that would proclaim him as the “Ruiner of Dubstep.”

The world was first introduced to Borgore with his mixtape release Gorestep Vol. 1, which featured the underground classic “Love.” Audiences loved the track for its somewhat questionable lyrics and heavy dubstep sound that made it relatable to fans of hip hop and UK electro.

Every year since his first release, Borgore’s popularity has continued on an upward incline. The viral success of his one of his latest singles “Decisions” features Miley Cyrus and has given him even more international exposure than before. He followed the success of “Decisions” with “Incredible,” a collaboration with Carnage. Out on Spinnin’ Records, the single hit #1 on Beatport and quickly became a staple of this year’s Miami Music Conference.

Borgore’s live shows are exceptional, incorporating pole dancers in his production and dubbing his music as sexy. “Girls love my music: I had 40 girls dancing onstage with me at a recent show.” Currently working with Steve Aoki to release a new album for the Aokify America Tour, we are excited to welcome Borgore to the Monster Block Party in Nashville on Saturday, October 26th. Grab your tickets today before it’s too late.

Monster Block Party Artist Profile: Waka Flocka

artist waka flockaMonster Block Party artist Waka Flocka Flame knows the music industry like no other rapper. With over five years in the rap game, Waka is no stranger to the top of Billboard’s US Rap chart with his widely popular studio albums.

Born Juaquin Malphurs in Jamaica, Queens, Waka grew up outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Given the name Waka by his cousin, he came into fame with his first mixtape, Salute Me or Shoot Me, Vol. 1, which featured his breakthrough single “O Let’s Do It.” The single hit #7 on the Billboard’s US Rap chart and #62 on Billboard’s Hot 100. After this milestone, the release of his lead single “Hard In Da Paint” produced by the legendary Lex Luger, pushed his debut album Flockaveli to #6 on the Billboard 200. The sound of this track exposed a mind-blowing combination of synth brass leads and machine gun drum samples.

Waka released his sophomore album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, & Family with artists like Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Flo Rida and Drake who was featured on the popular track “Round Of Applause.” Currently, Waka Flocka is readying for his third album, Flockaveli II. With Atlantic Records as his new label, Waka is making some new changes in his career. “I’m highly educated now music industry wise. I’m not just somebody jumping into a field I don’t know. I actually learned it through a couple of methods, put my blueprint out on display and it worked not just for me and the company I was working with, but numerous people’s careers. Basically I know my shit now–I know what I need to win.” The album, due out in 2014, will feature dance music heavy weights Skrillex, Diplo, and the trap twosome, Flosstradamus. Showing the dance music world what it takes to “win,” Waka Flocka recently joined forces with Borgore and Paige to release their new single “Wild Out.”

We’re excited to see Waka’s latest evolution of rap and dance music. “I’m not bullsh*ttin’ with this album. I’m going hard.” Get ready for the coming of Waka Flocka Flame when he hits the stage in Nashville at Monster Block Party on Saturday, October 26th. Grab your tickets today!

artist steve aokiWidely known for his acrobatic crowd surfing stunts, affinity for cake, spraying champagne bottles, and riding rafts on the dance floor, Steve Aoki‘s personality and music has marked the dance music scene. Born in Miami, Aoki presents his music to fans in wacky, unconventional ways – and it’s been like that since early beginnings of his career. An electro house superstar, Aoki has climbed to position number 15 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 list.

The Monster Block Party artist first started DJing he was a student at the University of California in Santa Barbara under the moniker Kid Millionaire. He began producing records and hosting concerts in his living room, calling the “venue,” the Pickle Patch. In 1996, now in his early 20s, Steve created the now world-famous label Dim Mak Records. Known as a Chinese form of martial arts called “Death Touch,” Dim Mak is still delivering great music to the world 17 years later. “My sound is about maximal energy. Aoki’s debut mix album, Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles, was released in January 2008 with an Essential Mix airing that same year, instantly propelling him to the international spotlight. Steve has held his position with his “Always on Tour” approach and a continual stream of great music.
