Hucci

Hucci

UK Trap prodigy HUCCI has been generating serious heat since his 2013 debut Novocane EP, garnering support from trap demigods like Flosstradamus and reaching across the pond to the ears of Diplo’s Mad Decent. In the Summer of 2014 “HITTA” broke hard on YouTube. His first smash racked up fans globally at phenomenal speed, setting up 2015 as his breakthrough year. True to his heavy sampling form HUCCI released multiple versions drawing multimillion plays.

“HITTA” is HUCCI’s anthem. Stripped of its samples and bootlegged lyrics, it remains so. An instrumental paired down to its brutal bass, legendary synth hook and stuttering hi hats. HUCCI’s 2015 US and Australian tours drew capacity crowds at every venue. Avid fans went wild to his sets, clamored for HUCCI, invaded stages. His UK trap export is playing to American crowds of 20,000+ courtesy of his rampant Youtube fan base.

We can confirm rumors of his forthcoming label VEYRON ARCHE, an outfit designed and centered around the man himself; A nineteen year old from Brighton set to make waves and bring the next generation of talent with him. The electronic music scene and its vibrancy depends on constant replacement of genre standards and conventions. HUCCI stands at the frontier of its latest cycle of demolition.

Gromo

Gromo, a New York City high school student wakes up every day knowing exactly what he wants to do: make music. His steely determination keeps this multi talented producer/DJ/guitarist/ songwriter poised to have a profound impact on the ever-progressing music landscape. He’s already penetrated the New York City club scene, leading up to a 2015 performance at ULTRA Music Festival in Miami. He continues to push his limits, breaking onto the international circuit in 2015 with appearances at Ultra Europe, Japan and Bali.

Adopted from Guatemala, Gromo (Braedon Gromek) is keenly aware that his life could have been dramatically different. “I’m privileged and lucky to have the life I currently have; I don’t take that for granted.” His natural curiosity about music has lead him to his passion–as a child, he would listen to his father’s eclectic music collection and analyze songs, breaking them down to their most basic elements; rhythm, melody, and harmony. He picked up the guitar and transformed into a young musician / songwriter with a singular vision, immersed in the world of heavy metal. As time progressed, he began to outgrow metal’s boundaries and attitudes. Then he found Skrillex…

“When I heard him for the first time, that was it. Electronic music completely changed my perspective on life, and opened up a whole new direction to take my music,” Gromo says. “Seeing Skrillex brought out the same reaction as when I first saw Metallica in concert, but on a whole new level. Without this exposure, I wouldn’t be as open to merging all of my musical influences.”

Like many young producers, Gromo started dabbling in production, approximating the sounds he heard through studying various production techniques on YouTube. Needing more guidance to fully capture his musical vision, he enrolled at Dubspot, the innovative music school for DJs and electronic musicians, where he met JP Solis, co-founder of Dubspot, who became his mentor.

This was a time of profound change for Gromo as a person and an artist, taking the name “Gromo” as a playful appropriation of his last name, Gromek. As Gromo’s technical abilities grew and he attained the technological savvy to create the electronic music sounds of mainstream popularity, he also found that his tastes began to broaden.

“I got so close-minded with metal, and then similarly with EDM, but as I became more confident in my abilities as a producer, I started reaching back to all the music I first heard as a kid for ideas,” he says. “I realized I love everything — jazz, blues, big band, rock n’ roll, metal, classical — the beautiful melodies of progressive house. 608A2523You can get song ideas from everything; all music is good.” Inspiration like this sparks imaginative rearrangements, and forward-thinking musicality.

While the reward for Gromo’s countless hours honing his craft and shaping his identity has taken form in the opportunity to perform at one of the most storied electronic music festivals in the world, for Gromo, the true reward comes from the positive impact of his music. “I set out to do this because I wanted to touch people, make them happy, and help out others the way music has helped me in my life. If someone wakes up in the morning, listens to my music, and it gives them the energy to take on the world, I’ve done my job.”

Butch

Constantly working in parallels ‐ drenched by a potent mixture of juxtaposition and fluidity in both his sets and his productions Bülent Gürler AKA Butch, fuses the grey area space between music of the body and mind. With over 20 years consumed by a thirst for electronic music, the Alzey‐born, Mainz raised entity has released on leading imprints such as Desolat, Cocoon, Rekids, Sei Es Drum and beyond, while maintaining a solid DJ schedule that’s seen him open the minds of crowds at fabric, Time Warp and his residency at Berlin’s Watergate.

22‐years ago, a 12 year old Butch received his first record player, some second hand vinyl and obediently burrowed into his room to scritch‐scratch and beat juggle imitating and idolizing the masters he saw at the DMC World Championships and the vinyl culture central to its core. Of course, he grew older and louder and continued to broaden his palate for music. Butch got hooked on the art of sculpting beats sometime in the last millennium. He started with baby‐steps in 1991 before reaching his current optimum state, a refined style that’s seen him voted as ‘Best Producer’ in Groove and Raveline magazines two years in a row, whilst also sitting atop the All-Time Most Charted section on Resident Advisor.

“My further musical influence came from my brother” reflects Butch…”recording the techno mixes from the radio as he was out at night partying”, explaining the gradual transition from boom‐bap to 4‐4 funk and drive. “I absorb influence and ideas from everywhere…so, as my music has many styles, I like to make different styles too.”

Techno heads love Butch, house heads love Butch, as well as the deep and dirty and the light & bright. Few artists flow through genres and emotional landscapes with such ease and fluidity as Bülent, challenging preconceptions of the dance‐floor and the expected outcome in the process. The spark behind his excursions is natural: as a music lover he’s always stayed open to different styles and aesthetics. As an artist, he’s always allowed himself to express his take on each genre — it’s true that with Butch, you never know what to expect, other than consistently sounding fresh and unique output.

Butch’s production might have contributed to his rise through the ranks, but it’s his avid work ethic and undying love that gives his success a solid and deep‐rooted foundation. Striking a fine line between quantity and quality is no easy task, but this juxtaposition comes easy to an unpredictable talent such as Butch. Holding residencies over the years at venues and clubs such as Sankeys Ibiza and Robert Johnson in Offenbach Germany, Butch continues to squeeze the best out of every after hour party and every club night floor that he holds court over.

Butch might be the hardest‐working man in the scene, but it all comes naturally to a man who is first and foremost a music lover by heart. 5 days a week he spends emphatically producing music, as well as performing around the world at various parties, all of whom are looking for the special vibe and feeling that Butch brings to his unpredictable, existential sets.

“I like to make people dance and have fun. I’m the captain of the spaceship and I’m driving it. People who come to the show get in the ship — and I take them on a trip. To get into the spaceship, they leave their physical body at the door. You must switch off the real world and switch off the mind. I will do the rest.”

As with any restless entity, Butch is set to further explore pastures new in 2014. He’ll be launching OTHRSIDE and working on more experimental, “psycho‐acoustic’ music with friend and percussionist Chris Hohberg. A mixture of sonic soundscapes and electronic structures, the planned album will seek to cast its tracks across the divide of musical consumption and appreciation — an album suited to home listening as much as it is for dance‐floor.

Further collaborations are also on the horizon, with a return to making music with friend and cohort Ricardo Villalobos as ButRic ‐ with the two figures being anything but generic, it promises to be another feet twitching, brain melting escapade in Butch’s musical ride.

It’s Butch’s interplanetary connection to the music — and willingness to create out‐of-the‐box slabs of detailed sound ‐ that maintains his position at the forefront of the underground electronic scene.

Sigala

The past few months for Sigala have been an eventful few to say the least, already with a UK #1 single under his belt ‘Easy Love’ is proving to become a worldwide hit and with his follow up single ‘Sweet Lovin’ about to drop, Sigala shows no sign of slowing down. Boasting an impressive early musical background, after learning to play the piano at 8 years old, Sigala achieved grade 8 only a few years later. He spent his teens first listening to jazz, then the likes of Pendulum, Sub Focus, Fatboy Slim and The Prodigy.

After he finished university, the allure of playing gigs in unsigned bands on the toilet circuit was beginning to wear off and Sigala found himself wanting to be in the studio, writing and producing more and more for others. Fast-forward a mere eight months later and Sigala’s ascent found him at Tileyard Studios, surrounded by all those artists that he adored as a student who are all residents there (Pendulum + Sub Focus). It was when he was asked to do a 37th mix for a well-known artist that he decided to make a life change. Tired and frustrated he reached for a six-pack of Desperados (a tequila flavored beer) and he turned on his computer to download an acappella of the Jackson 5’s ‘ABC’. It was then that the monster ‘Easy Love’ was born. Within a few days it had been picked up by Ministry of Sound.

Now based at Tileyard Studios he’s surrounded by the artists he adored as a student (Pendulum, Sub Focus are all residents there). As well as his own forthcoming releases, Sigala is writing songs for artists Ella Eyre (on her single ‘Good Times’). Piano based instrumentals and jazz chords are still evident throughout, showing that his technical background lends itself generously to his present sound.

Sigala has no doubt made some momentous strides in the past few months but he is quick to admit that he still has a long way to go. However, with his sky-high ambition and perseverance, it looks like he’s only just getting started.

Vincent

Hailing from Canada, 22-year-old Robert Hughes aka Vincent is one of the strongest forces in the world of genre-defiant, boundary-pushing electronic artists. Fusing the hottest sounds across trap music, future bass and unique styles in between, Vincent is perpetually setting the trends in his space.

Self-releasing several original and remixes with individual play counts in the millions, Vincent has exceeded expectations on the remix front. His official remix of Alison Wonderland’s “U Don’t Know” was met with critical acclaim and community support, and versions of The Chainsmokers’ “Paris,” Meek Mill & Drake’s “R.I.C.O.,” and Alessia Cara’s “Here,” became instant fan favorites.

Vincent’s original work distinguishes the producer’s appeal — burgeoning from the day one trap fans all the way up to new listeners. His breakthrough “Anax” became a summer anthem when dropped in 2015 and was followed up by “Her” and “Breathe”, a pair of cinematic efforts that proved worth the wait.

Primed to take the future by storm, armed with the talent and avant-garde approach to music that fans of today and tomorrow yearn for, Vincent is reinventing the electronic artist.
