Sunset Music Festival Sound Mashup: Morgan Page and Flosstradamus
With Sunset Music Festival just around the corner, we’ve got some sound’s to mashup before the highly-anticipated event in Tampa this Saturday, May 25th. Have you bought your tickets yet? Today we’re diving into the melodic sounds of Morgan Page and the bass-ridden styles of Flosstradamus. Both acts are known for their healthy blend of multiple genres to create their own, individual sound – no matter how different those two sounds may be.
Morgan Page
Having two Grammy Award and five International Dance Music Award nominations to his credit, Morgan Page has come quite a long way from his humble beginnings of a log cabin in Burlington, Vermont. He is one of those artists whose music upon first listen is almost immediately identifiable. Whether it’s his melodic progressive synths or catchy and memorable pop-esque lyrics laid over top of a steady house beat, Morgan’s music has a way landing onto the iPod of almost any music lover out there. Dabbling in progressive, electro, and trance, prepare for an eclectic and energetic set when Morgan Page takes the main stage, Ra at Sunset Music Festival.
Flosstradamus
With the duo having made music for nearly a decade, the boys of Flosstradamus are certainly no newcomers to the scene. The “Floss” project began as a series of DJ parties in their hometown of Chicago, Illinois. With a string of successful club bangers and a little help from word of mouth, the duo have catapulted to the phenomenon they are today. While J2K and Autobot first came to our attention for their blend of electro, house, minimal techno, and R&B, the tracks that they have recently released just feed the world’s growing appetite for bass-heavy music in all of its forms. Known for their ability to put a Floss spin on all of our favorite songs and deliver a crazy amount of energy to every set, Flosstradamus are the perfect addition to the Set stage at Sunset Music Festival.
Sunset Music Festival Artist Spotlight: Ashley Wallbridge
We’re so excited to welcome Ashley Wallbridge to Sunset Music Festival next Saturday, May 25th. Ashley has been steadily on the rise since 2008. Being championed by some of the biggest names in trance music, Ashley has become a regular at world famous clubs and festivals.
Having won many DJ competitions since the age of 16, the U.K. native is one of the few artists who can say that they’ve DJ’d for over half of their life. Early original productions like “Shotokan,” “Masquerade,” along with collaborations “Faces,” with Andy Moor, and “Mansion,” with Gareth Emery, are still embraced in trance sets around the globe. Ashley’s melodic blend of progressive, electro, and trance has made his sound very distinctive and garnered quite the following.
In 2012, Ashley released his long-awaited debut album, Inner Me on the revered Armada. Representing a year and a half of time in the studio, his dedication to perfecting his craft is made evident by the stellar tracks that adorn the release. With a fresh release out on Garuda, new material in the works, and gigs stationed around the world, 2013 is shaping up to be one amazing ride for Ashley Wallbridge. Join us May 25th when he takes the Isis stage at Raymond James Stadium for Sunset Music Festival. Buy your tickets today!
Sunset Music Festival's Weekend Warriors: Morgan Page, KhoMha, Brass Knuckles
With Sunset Music Festival just a week away, our anticipation to hear music from the artists has reached a fever pitch. So to help us through the final stretch, here are three mixes to get you ready for Sunset Music Festival.
Morgan Page: “In The Air Episode 151”
Morgan Page‘s weekly mix show In The Air, broadcasting every Wednesday on SiriusXM and syndicated to dozens of countries worldwide, is back for another episode filled with of all Morgan’s current favorites.
Why We Love It
Weaving in and out of progressive, electro, and trance, this episode of In The Air packs quite the punch. Featuring tracks by other Sunset artists like David Guetta and Knife Party, we’re sure the energy from this mix will get you pumped for Sunset Music Festival.
KhoMha: “Live at ASOT 600 Den Bosch”
KhoMha joined the all-star lineup for the world famous, A State of Trance 600 in Den Bosch.
Why We Love It
Any trance fan will tell you that ASOT is one of the most, if not the most-anticipated events for the genre. KhoMha’s set for the 600 edition at Den Bosch is a collection of tracks that deliver on that same driving innovation that made the event so popular in the first place. Prepare to move.
Brass Knuckles: “Brass Knuckles Podcast Episode 1”
Kicking off what will hopefully be a long string of episodes, Miami trio Brass Knuckles launches a new podcast series.
Why We Love It
Known for their fusion house, electro, pop, nu disco, and even rock, Brass Knuckles have become an unstoppable force brewing in the dance industry. Incorporating both live and electronic instruments to their music, this mix showcases what the boys do best – delivering nothing but gritty, energetic tunes back-to-back.
Sunset Music Festival Artist Spotlight: Pegboard Nerds
Our Sunset Music Festival lineup has a wide range of buzz-worthy newcomers gracing the stages this year. Pegboard Nerds is one of the buzzing artists making waves in the industry today. Though they had admired and been influenced by dance music for over twenty years, it wasn’t until 2011 that Danish countrymen Alexander Odden and Michael Parsberg would create the duo Pegboard Nerds after years of producing and remixing for other established artists.
Creating a unique blend of electronic music that spans over electro, dubstep, moombahcore, and glitch hop, the two have never confined themselves to a single genre. Which could probably attribute to their wide audience that has gained an impressive following over the past year. Their first release “Gunpoint” was the catalyst of a string of successful releases, like “Self Destruct,” “Disconnected,” and “Fire In The Hole” which held the number one spot on the Beatport’s Glitch Hop chart for almost 3 consecutive months. Their latest release “Razor Sharp” with Tristam is currently at #1. Pegboard Nerds’ remixes have gained a lot of attention as well. Their take on Krewella’s “Alive,” on popular channel UKF, has garnered over 1.5 million views and the remix of MSD and Jillian Ann’s “Quiet Riot” was also hand-picked by Knife Party for their Mixmag studio mix back in November.
You can catch Pegboard Nerds on tour supporting fellow Sunset artist Knife Party later this year, or you can just catch their set next week at the Set stage for Sunset Music Festival. Buy your tickets today!
