Sun City Music Festival Weekend Warriors: Alesso, Steve Aoki, Markus Schulz
It’s Friday and you know what that means. One week down, and three to go until Sun City Music Festival. Don’t have your tickets yet? Buy your tickets online today!
For this edition of our Sun City Music Festival Weekend Warriors, we were inspired by recent events. Everyone wants to go to Tomorrowland. Everyone. Their motto says, “Yesterday is history. Today is a gift. Tomorrow is a mystery.” So since we were given today, let’s have a little dance now, shall we?
Although some of us couldn’t make it to the rolling hills of Boom, Belgium, we can imagine we were there with three uploaded Tomorrowland sets from our talented Sun City roaster. Feel the energy and vibes as each mix is bound to get you moving. All the more ways to get ready for highly-anticipated event!
Alesso – Live at Tomorrowland
We love Alesso‘s Tomorrowland set because it starts with crazy energy and maintains it all the way through. Featuring some of his biggest hits and some recent favorites, get ready dizzying wind-ups, emotive strings, and a rocking good time.

Steve Aoki – Live at Tomorrowland
Even though we aren’t able to see the craziness that’s going on on-stage, we can hear the craziness happening behind the decks for Steve Aoki‘s Tomorrowland set. The tracklist is amazingly diverse and should be commended. Spanning over almost every single genre, the mix features artists like Chris Lake, Lil Jon, W&W, Flux Pavilion and Carnage. Now, how is that for eclectic? We’re really digging the mashup of “Warp 1.9” with Prodigy and the double bass kick on “Get Me Out of Here” is in-your-face and fist pump worthy.

Markus Schulz – Live at Tomorrowland
Sun City talent Markus Schulz had the pleasure of hosting his own stage at the mega festival, but also had the challenge of performing a 12 hour open-to-close solo set. On his current Global DJ Broadcast, he shortened the mix down to two hours featuring the highlights of the set. We love that Markus dug out the older, classic tracks towards the end because he very rarely gets to play them out. WARNING: Dead unicorns everywhere.

Tiësto to headline the fourth annual Sound Wave Block Party!
Disco Donnie Presents and Steve LeVine Entertainment & Public Relations are excited to announce that Tiësto will be the headliner for the fourth installment of Sound Wave Block Party on September 21st. Get ready to get maximal crazy on Indian Plaza Road and inside MÄÂyÄ Day and Nightclub and W Scottsdale WET Deck.
Early on in his career, Tiësto was quoted as saying all he wanted to do was, ‘share his music with others.’ Obviously, he has done that and then some, but even after nearly 20 years since his first release, and having received almost every single dance music award there is, he’s still going on strong. He was the first DJ to play a solo stadium concert, he set the world record for biggest audience ever played to by a DJ, and lest we forget he DJed the Opening Ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Tiësto’s talents and accomplishments helped shape dance music as we see it today. It is clear to see why he has been called one of the greatest DJ’s to go behind a set of turntables.
And you’ll get to see the legend behind the decks when he headlines this year’s Sound Wave. Tickets are on sale now, so buy yours today!
Tiësto to headline Something Wicked in Houston!
Disco Donnie Presents and NightCulture are excited to announce that pioneering producing DJ, Tiësto, will be making his way down to Houston, Texas for the return of the city’s first-ever Halloween dance music festival, Something Wicked. Taking place on Saturday, October 26th, prepare to be frighteningly amazed by our freakish production and special effects.
Whether he’s performing to 250,000 fans on the shores of Ipanema or maybe to the millions of adoring clubbers in all corners of the world, there is no denying the grave impact Tiësto has had on the dance music industry. The man has transcended musical genres to create his own global brand. Many don’t know that some of his first productions were in the hardcore/gabber categories. As his sound progressed, he then dominated the trance genre. Now, you can find him sporting big room anthems, trap, and house music in his eclectic sets and podcast.
Musically, Tiësto has been experimenting more than ever before. “You would be surprised to hear what is on my personal playlist. I like all kinds of music and as I continue to develop as an artist I do not feel I should be confined to any one sound or expected genre. I draw influences from various sources whether it be movies, the people I meet, and of course all the amazing places I have been lucky enough to visit. This is definitely one of the best things about being a DJ.”
Tiësto’s achievements in music extend past the genres themselves though. He’s a Grammy nominee, winner of numerous MTV awards, performer at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, has a street named after him in Las Vegas called “Tiësto Way,” January 1st in Vegas is now officially known as “Tiësto Day,” and the veteran even has a wax statue at Madame Tussauds.
Voted ‘The Greatest DJ Of All Time’ in a Mixmag poll a few years ago, get ready for a sinful treat as Tiësto makes his way to Houston for Something Wicked. Tickets are on sale now, so buy yours today!
Sun City Music Festival Drop: Tiësto launches new radio show; Candyland relaunches Sweet Shop Records
As August continues to roll through, the time for Sun City Music Festival will soon be upon us. El Paso certainly knows how to party, and you’ll see that when you join us on the dance floor for Texas’ largest dance music event. Grab your tickets now to score the best deal!
On this edition of the Sun City drop, it’s all about the launch. We’ve got one of our headliners launching a new radio show and another act is relaunching their own imprint.
Tiësto Launches New Radio Show Dedicated to House
This past Sunday, Sun City headliner Tiësto launched his new radio show Club Life After Hours. The new weekly show on Sirius XM will be dedicated to house in all of its forms. Clocking in at a whopping 24 hours, the show will run from 5:00 AM Sunday to 5:00 AM Monday. Though the show won’t feature Tiësto every week, special guest DJs will be invited to throw down on the decks.
The first episode ranged from the chiller side of house to the funkier styles, featuring artists like Audiofly, Tale of Us, and Tube & Berger. “Stylistically, I don’t think [house is] ready for my live sets just yet because I like to play a little more energetic and uplifting, but who knows in the future?” Tiësto says. “For now I want to experiment with it on the radio and see what people think.”
With a trap release on Musical Freedom last week and recent tweets promising to produce a trance song, what’s one more genre to add to the multifaceted artist? We’re not sure what to expect when Tiësto takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival, but we do know there’s only one way to find out. Have you bought your tickets yet?
Candyland relaunches Sweet Shop Records
Back in 2012, breakout successes Candyland launched their own imprint in Sweet Shop Records. Though the duo took a small hiatus, we were overjoyed when we learned that Ethan and Josie are relaunching the project – with some newly added benefits.
Sweet Shop Records is a multi-genre label, which, of course, is fitting considering the duos eclectic productions. Fans can now send in demos to have the chance at having their work distributed to the world by the company. The label’s official site has also launched the Sugar Free feature. Sugar Free is a mailing list that anyone can subscribe to. Fans can sign up on Facebook or the duo’s site to receive notifications of ticket giveaways, remix stems, free downloads, and so much more.
We’re sure you’ll hear some sweet stuff when Candyland joins Sun City Music Festival this August 31st and September 1st. Tickets are available online, buy your tickets today!
Isla Del Sol Fest Drop: Major Lazer releases Lazergram App; Quintino uploads Tomorrowland Aftermovie
Isla Del Sol Fest is an island getaway coming to Clayton’s Beach Resort this Labor Day Weekend, August 31 and September 1st. Recently, two of our Isla talents have been making their getaways a lot more accessible. Buy your tickets now to score the best deal!
Major Lazer Pons de Lazergram
Just when you thought the artist-inspired apps couldn’t get any more entertaining. Just this past week, Major Lazer released an Android version of their Lazergram App, previously only available on iOS.
The fun Jamaican-influenced app has the ability to take pictures, turn them into “original Major Lazer art works” and even create a direct link to then share it with your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts. You can even send an MMS within the app too, although that technology seems dated these days. Best part? The app is completely free (with the exception of some sticker upgrades). Hashtag your photos with #Lazergram for the chance to get a shoutout from the Diplo crew.
Quintino uploads his own 2013 Tomorrowland Aftermovie
Just this past weekend, the world celebrated the ninth annual Tomorrowland Festival taking place in the now legendary fields of Boom, Belgium. Isla Del Sol talent Quintino threw down at the Jacked Stage on July 26th to crowds of dance fans from around the world in the thousands.
Yesterday, Quintino uploaded an aftermovie of his set at the world-renowned event. Featuring “Puzzle,” his new single Blasterjaxx and his remix of Example’s “All The Wrong Places,” the aftermovie is a great snapshot of the event, the music, and the artist. Get a glimpse of what you might expect when Quintino takes the stage at Isla Del Sol Fest coming to Clayton’s Beach Resort August 31st and September 1st. Buy your tickets today!
