Sun City Music Festival Sound Clash: Alesso, Zomboy

On today’s edition of your Sun City Sound Clash we’re merging two artists whose sound has nothing in common with the other. Though they may be similar in age, Alesso and Zomboy’s production span two different avenues of dance music. But we think both groups of fans can agree – these two have been making quite the splash with their sound. No matter just how different those two sounds may be.

Alesso

Debuting with “Nillionaire” and breaking through with the dark and energized “Raise Your Head,” Alesso first gained worldwide attention and popularity in 2011 with the help of his original productions and his remix of “Pressure.” With the original produced by Nadia Ali, Starkillers and Alex Kenji, Alesso’s remix of the track was one of the most played dance songs of 2011. Following the success of that release, Alesso followed up with Beatport chart toppers “Calling” with Sebastian Ingrosso and “Years” with Matthew Koma.

Specializing in progressive house, Alesso is known for retaining that melodic finesse and anthemic style we love so much. And being named the EDM artist to watch in 2012 by MTV, Alesso enters 2013 with a successful remix of the OneRepublic song “If I Lose Myself.” With the world still buzzing about this track, we’re pretty excited about hearing live when Alesso joins us August 31st and September 1s. Zomboy

Half zombie and half boy, Zomboy originally started out in a background of traditional sound engineering, including running his own recording studio. Even though it wasn’t until he moved to Guildford, England to study Music production that Zomboy discovered a new admiration for dance music, he quickly made up for his lack of exposure to the genre at neck-breaking speeds.

After his debut Game Time EP was in the top 5 of Beatport’s dubstep chart for over eight weeks, within six months of the release, the tracks on were licensed to eight music compilations on various labels like Warner Music and Ministry of Sound. Now that’s some debut, huh?

On his followup EP, Zomboy left no tempo unturned incorporating drumstep, electro, orchestral interludes and of course, the sonically perfected dubstep that we love him for. Known for his filthy and grimey take on dubstep, you can see the undead producer Zomboy for this year’s Sun CityMusic Festival, but only if you buy your tickets now!

Hey DJ! Win a Slot and DJ Live at Sun City Music Festival from Mixify!

We are thrilled to announce that Mixify and This Song Slaps will be hosting our 2013 Sun City Music Festival DJ competition. One lucky DJ will be booked to spin Texas’ largest dance music event on Saturday, August 31st or Sunday, September 1st. Featuring artists like Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, and Alesso, Sun City Music Festival is the gig of a lifetime. Not only will you get a slot during at this highly anticipated event, but the winning DJ will also score a one-hour slot at the official Sun City Music Digital House Party on Mixify.com, Thursday, August 15th.

Rules

  • DJs must host a 1-hour event on Mixify (LIVE only, no prerecorded mixes) between Monday, July 29 – Sunday, August 4 (11:59 PM EDT) and incorporate at least one (1) original production (original track, bootleg, or remix – mashups do not count) in their set.
  • The ten (10) DJs who bring the highest number of unique attendees into their 1-hour Mixify event will advance to the finals.
  • The ten (10) finalists will be notified via e-mail, and then must submit a 1-hour mix by Tuesday, August 6 to be voted on by the fans.
  • The finalist submitted mix must also include the one (1) original production (original track, bootleg, or remix) with full tracklisting.
  • One (1) grand prize winner with the most fan votes will be selected by Sunday, August 11.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to enter.

Events will be monitored to ensure that rules are met.

Disco Donnie Presents joins Hardwell for Mexico tour!

Award-winning DJ, producer, musician, label manager and #6 ranked in the DJ Mag Top 100, Hardwell has certainly left a lasting impression on the dance music industry. The 25 year old heavyweight Robbert van de Corput hails from Breda, Netherlands like his mentor Tiësto. When he was just 13, Hardwell was signed to a major Dutch label, spinning at all the major clubs across the Netherlands.

Hardwell first caught international success in 2009 with his “Show Me Love vs. Be” bootleg, which was one of the most popular and played dance hits of the year. In 2011 his hit “Zero 76” with Tiësto topped the #1 Beatport and #1 US iTunes spot, laying the foundation to become the established veteran he is today. Now with respected label Revealed Recordings under his belt and radio show/podcast Hardwell On Air that is broadcasted on more than 25 international radio stations, it’s easy to see why Hardwell has created the ultimate recipe for big room house, utilizing complex drum layers, bold synth structures, and emotive chords.

With a current tour diary that spans all over Europe, Asia, and multiple shows in the United States, Disco Donnie Presents is excited to bring Hardwell and fellow Dutchman, producer and mash-up maestro Dannic south of the border as they gear up for a Mexico tour with dates in October and November.

Disco Donnie Presents gets on the freeway for Flux Pavilion tour

Joshua Steele, who has been working as Flux Pavilion since his first single in 2008, has had a whirlwind of added success within the past year. His smash hit released in 2012 “I Can’t Stop” was sampled by everyone in the entertainment industry, landing in multiple commercials, a Kanye West and Jay Z track, and even in some TV show soundtracks. And with his critically-acclaimed recent release with Childish Gambino in “Do Or Die” and his remix EP of Blow The Roof due out soon, Flux Pavilion certainly keeps his hands busy.

This coming fall we are getting in on the action and riding the freeway with bass music heavyweight Flux Pavillion as he embarks on a North American tour.
