Fedde Le Grand

Fedde Le Grand

Enjoying artistic freedom afforded only an elite few, Fedde Le Grand is a masterful pioneer of electronica, considered by countless fans and artists as one of the single most defining figures in House music. Whether as DJ or producer, Fedde’s influence can be felt throughout the electronic landscape; his creative beats, grooves, melodies and rhythms surround us all and have done so for many years. He’s been credited countless awards and remixed the biggest artists around – from Coldplay, Madonna, will.i.am, Robbie Williams, Everything But The Girl, Fatboy Slim, to more. Recent additions of Shakira, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, his own all-time musical inspiration Michael Jackson and his long awaited Faithless remix see this list just grow and grow.

When it comes to solo records it was the seminal electro track Put Your Hands Up For Detroit that not only brought Le Grand to global attention, but breathed fresh life into a stagnant house scene. Dubbed by many as the Saviour of House, it soon became evident that the Dutchman was no one-trick pony. Amongst others, tracks like The Creeps, Let Me Think About It, 3 Minutes To Explain, Back & Forth, Control Room, Metrum, So Much Love, and Sparks (Turn Off Your Mind), have established him as one of the most exciting and consistent talents around, demonstrating his effortless ability to move seamlessly between huge mainstream success and edgier, underground sounds. His 2009 debut artist album Output was released in an incredible 64 countries worldwide, establishing him as one of the foremost creative forces in electronic music. More recently adding Long Way From Home, Rockin N Rollin, No Good, Where We Belong, ‘Don’t Give Up’, Twisted, Tales of Tomorrow (with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike) and Robotic to his already impressive musical resumé. Currently working explosively towards his highly anticipated second artist album called Something Real with massive releases like Cinematic, The Noise (Yeah Baby), Feel Good, Keep On Believing and Give Me Some, shows Le Grand has no intention of slowing down any time soon!

Not only indulging in his own perfectionist musical tendencies, Fedde also is ever so focussed on nurturing new talent using his years of hard-earned experience to push them towards superstardom. Just starting up his new Darklight imprint shows his quest for that new out-of-the-ordinary bit of talent is never-ending. Nicky Romero is just an example of the fledging talents that Fedde already helped early on to explode into the mainstream.

Around the globe thousands have witnessed show-stopping live-sets that explode with ingenuity and originality. Huge performances across continents are par for the course for Le Grand, with the likes of Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Exit Festival, Global Gathering, Creamfields, Electric Zoo, Sziget, Mysteryland, Electric Daisy Carnival, Future Music, SW4, Airbeat One, an unparalleled number of Sensations, and the list just continues to grow. Most impressively adding his genre-defying new show concept GRAND, which truly is The Next Level In Dance. Developed in collaboration with RTL Live Entertainment this show is about to create a global shockwave as 2016 will see its international rollout.

His Darklight Sessions radio show has become commonplace for fans across the globe as its well in its third year of airing on local broadcasting giants like SiriusXM, Radio 538, Radio FG and many more before getting its weekly online upload to enjoy on-demand-rerun-pleasure for eternity.

Yet through all the success – the international chart-topping heights and global DJ fame -Fedde’s focus is simply fixed on making and playing great tracks. His dedication to music and his unwavering passion for the dance floor continue to make him an intrinsic and dominant part of the ever-evolving electronic scene. A touchstone, an inspiration and a pioneer; he is definitive, he is essential, he is house music at its finest. He is Fedde Le Grand.

Sun City Music Festival Artist Profile: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike

Sun City Music Festival act and brotherly duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are easily one of the most recognizable names in the dance music game right now. Known for their killer remixes and festival-ready house, they have gained a tremendous amount of support from some the industry’s main heavyweights and proved they are a force to be reckoned with.

Dimitri and Michael Thivaios did not begin their dreams together. Dimitri Vegas started DJing at the age of 14 early in his career, making several appearances in smaller clubs and was also the resident DJ at BeatFM radio. He left Belgium in 1999 and began touring Europe. He lived in Mallorca and Halkidiki, Greece before moving to Ibiza in 2003, where he became the resident at major clubs like Privilege and Space. It was here, where the boys stumbled onto something great. Dimitri recants, “Well we were actually born in Greece but moved to Belgium when we were kids. Mike’s always been more into hip-hop than me and been MCing for a while, then when I was out in Ibiza I was playing house in a club, Mike walked in and started flowing some beats on top of my mix just for fun, and the whole place went nuts. We tried it a couple more times and every time the same reaction so we knew we were on to something special. It’s just blown up from there.”

With a steady formula, the boys began to hone in on their art. But it wasn’t until much later that they would feel they could commit to it fully as a career. Mike recalls in an interview, “I think the pinpoint for us was in 2005 when we decided to move back to Belgium after living years in places like Ibiza etc with non stop parties, build our studio and focus on producing music. We decided to get serious and it paid off.” We first caught wind of the boys in 2007 with their remix of DJ Yoeri’s “Cocaine.” Though the track received relative underground success, it would be their edit of Swedish House Mafia’s “Leave the World Behind” in 2009 that would catapult the duo to their international success.

The year of 2010 also proved to be vital for the boys’ career. Not only did Dimitri and Mike become Tommorrowland residents, a role that they still hold to this day, but they also launched their own label Smash The House, a sub-division of the revered Spinnin’ Records.

Currently, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are preparing for the 2013 edition of Tomorrowland going down this week, but you can catch the duo when they make their way to El Paso for Sun city Music Festival. Have you bought your tickets yet?

Krewella's Get Wet Live Tour

Self-made trio Krewella are undeniably one of the hottest acts out right now. From their early beginnings at underground raves in the warehouses of Chicago, sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf and producer Kris “Rain Man” Trindl first burst onto the scene in 2011. Though they garnered a substantial following for their unique blend of electro house, dubstep, and lyrics, it would skyrocket after they self-released their critically acclaimed Play Hard EP in the summer of 2012. The extended player hit #1 on the Beatport charts and the single “Alive” went to #1 on Billboard’s Dance Radio Airplay.

And although it hasn’t even been a year since the success of that release, Krewella has gone on to headline and sell out shows and festivals around the world and also won the IDMA for “Best Breakthrough Artist.” Even Billboard said, “Krewella will be huge this year.”

As the trio prepares to release their first full-length album Get Wet on Columbia Records in September, we are excited to be a part of the Krewlife as Disco Donnie Presents will be bringing Krewella’s Get Wet Live Tour to a city near you. Adding support to the impending fall tour are fresh talents Seven Lions and Candyland.

Sun City Music Festival Sound Clash: Droog, Borgore

Today, we’re clashing the sounds of two Sun City Music Festival artists — one that’s members are plucked from all over the place, and the other imported from Israel and then from across the Atlantic. Though their styles are completely different, we love the thought of blending the sounds of both Droog and Borgore. But we think the fans from both sides can agree that these two artists, are masters in creating their unique sound. And you’ll be able to see that sound in action come August 31st and September 1st. Buy your tickets today to score the best deal.

Droog

Based out of L.A., Droog, meaning “friend,” first started gaining recognition for their respected weekly at the world-famous Avalon Hollywood. The party was legendary for hosting some of the biggest international house and techno talents. From 2007 to 2011, Droog had held down a residency at Avalon rooting themselves as a trusted source for truly underground talents.

Now, as a production trio, the boys have begun to hone in on their style, making excursions into mood-enhancing, spellbinding tech house loaded with trippy motifs, fat synths, and lyrics/vocals that might confuse and intrigue you. This is made evident by their Westbound EP released back in 2011. The track “Unhinged” is their signature spooky formula and wrapping it around an uptempo house jack and haunting, wobbly-pitched vocal. The effect on the lyric pulling me… closer… is so eerily wonderful, sitting on the corner of sensual and creepy. It’s one of our favorites.

Today, you can find the collective producing original and remixed material for revered labels all around the world. You can get on the action and see our droogs as Droog performs at this year’s Sun City Music Festival. Go in stores or online to grab your tickets today!

Borgore

Borgore is one of the most controversially loved artists in dance music right now. If not for his social media antics, than definitely for his memorable, catchy, and sometimes questionable lyrics. Early tracks like “Icecream” and “Love” were underground successes and helped catapult him to the world-renowned fame he’s sitting at today. As a producer he creates a unique sounds in bass and bass accessories, calling it “Gorestep” and incorporating triplet drum patterns and heavy metal influences, no doubt an influence from his days in the band Shabira. Perhaps our favorite example of this “Guided Relaxation Dub” and his recent banger “Decisions” released last year on Buygore Records with backup vocals provided by Miley Cyrus.

Known for his crazy energy and interactive live shows, expect nothing less than a bass-in-your-face energy filled set when Borgore takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival. Buy your Sun City tickets today!
