Sound Wave Block Party is just a week away, and in preparation for this upcoming event, we have a few ticket reminders to make sure you have a fun and carefree experience as we take our music to the streets!
If you haven’t bought your tickets to the festival yet, don’t fret! Online ticket sales will continue on through to the day of the event. Please beware of frauds and scalpers.
Ticket Warning
Do not buy tickets from scalpers. Beware of frauds. Assure your admission into the event by buying your ticket from an authorized ticket outlet. Sound Wave music festival will take place rain or shine. All acts advertised have confirmed their appearance, however acts are subject to change without notice. Guard your tickets carefully – just like cash! Buy early and save! Prices will increase and tickets may sell out as allotments run out.
General Admission Ticket Description
General Admission 18+ tickets provide access to the main stage from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM and vendor village.
General Admission 21+ tickets provide entrance into Sound Wave Events at MÄÂyÄ Day + Nightclub and W Scottsdale from 11:00 AM – 2:00 AM and access to the main stage, vendor village and outside bar areas from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
MÄÂyÄ Day + Nightclub and W Scottsdale reserve the right to charge an additional fee to enter based on capacity after 7:00 PM.
F.U. Bands 21+ Description
Go everywhere and anywhere, no lines – NO BS! Guaranteed entrance into Sound Wave Events at MÄÂyÄ Day + Nightclub and W Scottsdale from 11:00 AM – 2:00 AM. Access to main stage and vendor village from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Lee Foss
Few DJs have made such a dramatic impact on the underground house and techno scene over the last few years as Lee Foss. Described by DJ Mag as “one of the most talented new forces in modern dance music today” and by fellow future house innovators Art Department as their favourite producer, Lee has firmly established himself in dance music’s collective consciousness. Lee and his Hot Natured band mates Jamie Jones and Infinity Ink are currently leading a whole family of like-minded producers that includes Richy Ahmed, WaFF, Digitaria, Robert James and Miguel Campbell, who are currently re-writing the rulebook of how to make evocative, emotive house music. In 2010 he was the highest new entry into Resident Advisor’s key Top 100 DJs poll, entering at number 38 and by 2011 he had climbed to number 18 in the chart, a huge feat given that he only played his first European gig in 2009.
Having hit the UK charts with ‘Benediction’ as part of deep house super group Hot Natured, with genre-spanning hits such as ‘Electricity’ (with MK) and ‘Reverse Skydiving’ under his belt, alongside remixes of chart topping artists such as Rudimental and Lana del Ray, Lee Foss is one of the most exciting forces in modern house music. Not forgetting Hot Creations, the groundbreaking label he runs with partner Jamie Jones, which is arguably one of the world’s most innovative house labels. His unique sound, born out a lifelong love of classic house, 90s hip hop, 80s electro and Detroit techno, has earned him fanatical grassroots support from clubbers in both Europe and North America.
Born and raised in Chicago, the birthplace of house, Lee now lives between London and Los Angeles. Lee made his name on both sides of the Atlantic playing at clubs like Fabric (London), Warung (Brazil), The Warehouse Project (Manchester), The Standard Rooftop (Lost Angeles), The Marcy Hotel (Brooklyn), Watergate (Berlin) and Spybar (Chicago). Lee’s rapid rise to prominence has been as much down to his focused but all-encompassing approach to DJing as it has his pioneering take on nu-school house and synth-heavy techno, backed up by a string of hit releases on labels like No 19, Culprit, Wolf+Lamb and his own Hot Creations imprint.
While growing up in Chicago, Lee cut his teeth on the clubs and raves of the late 90’s, experiences that initially sparked his interest in house and disco. However, it was a chance visit to Ibiza back in 2001, that changed his whole approach to music and helped steer his musical destiny for the next decade and beyond. It was in Ibiza that summer that he first became friends with Jamie Jones and the pair formed a tight brotherly bond that quickly blossomed into their highly acclaimed Hot Creations label partnership with Richy Ahmed, and later their Hot Natured band project with Infinity Ink and their worldwide event brand, Paradise.
Since then, Lee has gone on to release a string of hits on a variety of labels including ‘The Edge EP’, ‘Equilibrium’, ‘U Got Me’ and ‘Starfruit EP’, all of which have been independently awarded ‘Tune of the Month’ in Mixmag at various points. Lee has recently joined forces with house legend MK and vocalist Anabel Englund to form a second electronic outfit, Pleasure State. The trio’s first EP, Electricity, has already landed to much success with Pete Tong announcing the title track as his ‘Essential New Tune’ earlier this year.
With this many accolades under his belt in such a short space of time, it would be easy for Lee to rest on his laurels but this couldn’t be farther from the case. Hot Natured’s latest single release ‘Reverse Skydiving’, is shaping up to be one of the summer’s biggest hits. The debut Hot Natured album is due to follow in the summer, and backed by Pete Tongs legendary FFRR imprint is already garnering incredible anticipation ahead of its release. The innovative Hot Natured Live Show kicked off with two back to back sold out shows at Brixton Academy earlier this Spring and will lead into the band headlining slots at the new Silver Hayes dance stage at Glastonbury, Sonar in Barcelona, Bestival on the Isle of Wight and Wavefront in Chicago. Undeniably this is shaping up to be yet another career-defining year for Lee Foss.
Something Wicked Welcomes Rukes as Official Photographer!
Something Wicked is excited to announce that Rukes will be the official photographer to the anticipated Halloween event taking place October 26th! Having bought his first camera in 2004, Drew Ressler is now the go-to photographer for DJs and music festivals around the world. Known for his fisheye shots directly behind DJs and his ability to capture the emotion of the events, it’s no wonder people call him the #1 DJ photographer.
“I get to be a part of it and if I do my job well enough I get to share the experience with everyone else.” And if you’ve ever wondered where he got the moniker “Rukes,” “It comes from back in the AOL days when I was in random chat rooms. In a video game chat room in 1995 somebody said ‘This video game rules,’ but they misspelled it ‘rukes’ by accident. Little typos were the cool thing to do back then, so I just saw that and everybody started calling me Rukes. [Then] I started calling myself that as a joke when I worked with Paul Van Dyk, and he was the number-one DJ in DJ Mag, so I just put it in my Twitter profile back then, and I forgot to take it down. It eventually grew to be reality.”

Something Wicked Artist Profile: Tommy Trash
His unruly locks may be the first thing audiences notice about Something Wicked talent Tommy Trash, but it his seemingly list of electrifying hits that keep fans fist pumping all night long and coming back for more.
Born Thomas Olsen in Queensland, Australia, Tommy Trash’s addiction to dance music began during university when he first started discovering clubs like Monastery in Brisbane. The love of the music made him switch out the classical sound he was studying and start making club banging tunes instead. Always experimenting, Tommy found inspiration from a variety of sources. “I went through a few different phases. In the early days, I was really into Felix Da Housecat’s Kittenz And Thee Glitz album. I had that shit on repeat! I’d go out and party all weekend, then I’d spend the week recovering with Felix’s album on repeat. After that, the Swedes started coming up. I really liked the early Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso remixes along with Axwell’s stuff. I loved Eric Prydz’ stuff, and the stuff Prydz did with Angello like Bedtime Stories. I was really inspired by that track. I think my sound now is really an extension of what Angello and Ingrosso were doing. If you listen to the ‘Buy Now For Sale’ record and compare it to my tracks, you can definitely hear the influences.”
Though Tommy made his debut in 2006 when he paired up with Goodwill for their remix of Sugiurumn’s track “Star Baby,” his breakout year would be in 2007 when Tommy released his first single “It’s a Swede Thing.” Signed to Ministry of Sound Australia, he released quite a handful of singles. Some of the releases were collaborations with Goodwill or with Tom Piper, and others were remixed tracks of Green Velvet, the Veronicas, and Armand Van Helden. As his career began to pick up speed, he started receiving some much deserved recognition for his bangin’ beats. Quickly given the title as one of Australia’s newest rising talents, Tommy’s nomination at the ARIA Music Awards in 2009 helped flag him as one of dance music’s biggest promises.
That nomination was spot on in fact, and a few years later, Tommy produced his biggest single to date. Released in 2011, “The End” garnered attention from some major heavy-weights like Tiësto, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack, and Laidback Luke. Always mastering the art of in-your-face tunes, Tommy’s sound is the perfect combination of progressive and electro, incorporating cliff hanger drops and gritty synths.
Tommy has also been making a name for himself by his steady stream of high-profile remixes for the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, Steve Aoki and Zedd among others. With three successive Beatport #1’s and even a spot on Billboard Hot Dance chart, it is no wonder that Rolling Stone and MTV have marked him as “One To Watch.”
With a host of incredible tracks soon to drop, a residency at the brand new Hakkasan nightclub in Las Vegas and main-stage performances at some of the world’s biggest festivals, 2013 is looking like Tommy’s biggest year yet. Something Wicked Artist Profile: Shogun
Naming himself after the Japanese word for ‘warrior,’ Something Wicked talent Shogun has definitely soldiered on todays’s dance music scene. Though American-born, Taiwanese artist Shogun had been familiar with elements of electronic music from listening to bands like Nine Inch Nails, it would take a few years before he would have his interests piqued by the sounds of trance, “I really liked industrial. So a lot of the harder, darker stuff like Nine Inch Nails, Prodigy, Filter, even like Ministry. So pretty underground. These guys were big influences on me because you got the very dark, very heavy industrial music, but you also have the soulful elements to it. It has some emotional elements to it if you listen very carefully. So I was like, hey, why don’t they have stuff like this but focusing on more beautiful elements? And then I heard about Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren’s ‘Communication,’ so I was like, wow this in on a whole different level. It is like industrial music but with beautiful melodies. That is how I feel in love with trance.”
That fateful hearing of Armin Van Buuren’s “Communication” in 2002 led Shogun to become completely submersed in trance music and its culture. “I bought a VHS tape called the Invisible Scratch Pickles, and taught myself how to DJ on turntables from it. When my parents saw I was serious, they bought me a computer so I could start playing around on Fruity Loops and I eventually graduated college with a degree in audio engineering. After that, I went full time into producing my own music and DJing as Shogun. He began playing at local clubs, making a name for himself at his two year residency at Taiwan’s Ministry of Sound, warming up for DJs like Tiësto and Paul Oakenfold.
Often spending 12 hours in the studio, Shogun produced around 200 tracks in three years. His first single was signed by S107, sub-label to Armin van Buuren’s Armada, making him the first Asian-American to be signed to the prestigious imprint. “I got very lucky to be discovered and signed by Armin van Buuren and Armada, it was a dream come true. Now I’m working with some of my favorite producers who only a couple of years ago I was looking up to. It’s been quite a ride and there are some good things in store for the future.”
His songs continued to gain attention with support by the likes of Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, and Markus Schulz. And it wouldn’t take long before “Imprisoned,” “Save Me,” “Run To My Rescue,” and “Skyfire” would become anthems and cement Shogun’s name in the catalogue of other heavyweights. More recently, originals “UFO,” “Amplify,” “Lotus” and remix of BT, Arty and Nadia Ali’s “Must Be The Love” have all smashed the charts and been championed by some of the world’s top trance DJs.

Sound Wave Block Party Artist Profile: Amtrac
Sound Wave Block Party artist Amtrac a.k.a. Caleb Cornett found himself heavily influenced by music at an early age. Born and raised in Morehead, a small town in eastern “bluegrass” Kentucky, Caleb spent his early childhood playing on a small keyboard and strumming notes on his guitar. While playing these instruments, Caleb discovered that music could be his own form of self-expression. “I was big into Chemical Brothers and Prodigy in middle school, and being raised on the likes of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin – everything kind of just came together, I guess.”
Caleb’s Amtrac alias first started gaining some media attention after remixing the likes of Metric, Chromeo, Apparat, Treasure Fingers and The Beach Boys. His first music video, “Came Along,” debuted on MTV’s Clubland in October 2011. “I’ve been very blessed to be doing what I’m doing. The MTV stuff is still kind of crazy, seeing my shit on national TV is something I never thought would happen, but I’m proud to be one of the few that have their music on that channel these days.”
After he completed the title track, the album’s shape began to take form. “How I’ve came along is kind of, from where I started to where I am now. I’ve been into hip-hop, experimental electronic music, the house scene with Miami. Everything kind of comes full circle. Putting this album together is kind of all that defined – how I came along.” Came along indeed. His debut long player shows off his unique instrumental dexterity incorporating his bluegrass upbringing into his style of music. “First and foremost I love organic sounds so much that I will always try to incorporate it all into one package.”
Currently, you can catch the name Amtrac on the tracklist for Kaskade‘s latest remix project for the song “Atmosphere.” For the remix, Amtrac trims the original’s stringed-prog layers that Kaskade intensified around the vocals. Still creating the same urgency as the original, we love that Amtrac made Kaskade’s vocals the forefront of the re-edit.
So what can we expect when Amtrac performs at Sound Wave this year? A blend of live show and a DJ set that features everything from keyboards, laptops and perhaps even a cover song or two, “I like the versatility of a live set, when you listen to my record it’s like a head phone record, but when you come see me live, it’s going to have that raw energy.”
