Enjoy Panama's Many Beaches During The Day After Festival

blog enjoy panama's many beaches during the day after festivalIn just a few short weeks, we will be in the beautiful country of Panamà for The Day After Festival. From January 10-12th, some of the world’s most in-demand artists will be soundtracking our nights at Figali Plaza in Panamà City. Since The Day After Festival begins later in the day at 6:00 PM, you have plenty of time to soak in the country’s many features and highlights. Like, for instance, Panamà’s beaches.

Few people have the luxury of surfing in the morning on the Caribbean Sea and later on, taking an afternoon dip in the Pacific Ocean. In Panamaà, you could do it every day. Not only does the country boast some of the best places to surf, but its highways are among the best in Central America, with four-lane freeways all across the country so you can reach the various beaches with ease.

Experience everything Panamà has to offer by joining us for Day After. Tickets are still available online.

On the Pacific side, you can visit:

Santa Clara and Farallón

These two are best beaches for swimming and they’re only a two hour drive from Panama City. While many beachgoers flock to Farallón, for the most part, this long stretch of sand sees few crowds outside of weekends. Self-catering cabins, midrange bungalows, and seafood restaurants are abundant.

Pearl Islands

The Pearl Islands are a group of over two hundred islands situated to the east in the Gulf of Panama near the southern coast of Panamà. Since many of the islands are uninhabited, you can see the area in an entirely different way. Rent a boat and do some snorkeling, scuba diving, bird watching, or whale watching. Or go to Contadora Island where you can walk to many beaches or take said boat to the nearby islands – all of which have white sand and crystal clear waters.

Venao Beach

Venao Beach, also known as Playa Venado, is in the province of Los Santos. There is a coral reef bay east of the site with white sandy beaches and is surrounded by a dry tropical forest which is also home to many species of wildlife. The newly added beach bars help attract more than just surfers.

Santa Catalina

Santa Catalina is located on the Chiriquí Gulf in the province of Veraguas. The two primary beaches in Santa Catalina are Playa Santa Catalina and Playa Estero. Both are black sand beaches and offer large tide changes through out the day. You could also probably get into a soccer game with some of the locals.

Also noteworthy are the beach waters around Santa Catalina which are routinely tested and have been awarded the Bandera Azul Ecologica (Ecologic Blue Banner award) for their purity.

On the Caribbean coast, you can visit:

Bocas Del Toro

Bocas del Toro is Panama’s top beach destination so rest assured there are plenty of water sports and outdoor activities to enjoy. The area wows visitors due to its vegetation, biodiversity, and ancient customs.

San Blas Islands

The San Blas Islands, also known as comarca Kuna Yala, are arguably the premier beach destinations in Panama, with over 350 islands scattered off the Caribbean coast. On the islands, you can enjoy picture-perfect beaches with white sand, coral reefs, beautiful turquoise water, and lest we forget the palm trees. Though scuba diving is prohibited, you’ll only want to swim and swing in a hammock anyway.

Day After Artist Profile: Deorro

artist deorroOver the past two years, Day After Festival artist Deorro has become one of the most sought after young producer/DJs in the business and it’s easy to see why. With a seemingly endless amount of original productions, the young producer also has an impressive amount of collaborations and remixes as well with heavyweights like Steve Aoki, Chuckie, Laidback Luke, Diplo, Tommie Sunshine and R3HAB.

Born Erick Orrosquiesta, the Los Angeles native acquired a taste for guitar and drums at the age of 14. Using the stage name of Ton!c, the budding talent started DJing at local gigs and house events. Though DJing helped express his love for music, that love would turn into a career when he began producing his own music.

Not long after he released his music on Soundcloud, “Ton!c” began to garner a huge following. His music began to spread rapidly with releases like “Fire” and “Voodoo” which hit over one million downloads online. After selling out two events in Australia, a benchmark was set in place and soon after, Ton!c became Deorro. “Well, to me the name change is sort of like a fresh start, I do like many releases that I have under Ton!c, but I think its time to take it to the next level – new name, new road. And so far so good.”

Now 22 years old, Deorro’s dedication has turned into a remarkable lifestyle change for the better, “I never imagined it would be like this, traveling all days around the world. The thing that makes me very happy is that I can help my sons and my family. In my childhood, things were not very good but now that I have reach this success I think it’s time to give back to my parents and my people what they gave me. I’ll never stop working!”

As one of the youngest international talents gracing the charts today, Deorro shows no signs of slowing down. Dubbing his unique genre of electro house “Panda Funk,” releases like his Elevation EP reached Beatport’s Top 20 electro house chart and gained support from artists all across the spectrum of dance music. He’s also created his own label, PandaFunk Records, to showcase his signature style and help other upcoming artists hone their own sound. Keeping with the panda theme, Deorro dubs his fervently growing and loyal fan base “PandaFam.”

Still running high from his latest release on Dim Mak titled “Dechorro,” you can hear Deorro and join the #PandaFam when he takes the stage at Figali Plaza in Panamà City, Panamà for The Day After Festival on January 10-12th. Tickets are still available online so grab yours today.

Sidney Samson

As a seven year old boy, Sidney started playing the guitar. From there on he knew that he wanted to make music for the rest of his life.

After seeing a couple of DMC mix championships, his interests were going towards dj-ing. He started dj-ing in 1995 at the age of 14. During that time he mainly played RnB and HipHop tunes at local clubs. He switched his style completely into housemusic in 1999 and
became the resident DJ of the ‘Exxellent’ nights at one of Holland’s biggest clubs The Matrixx in 2003. His producing skills really took off in that period.

His first real club banger was called ‘Sidney Samson-It’s all funked up!’ (Spinnin’ Records 2003).
After this release, Sidney knew that he couldn’t stop here and locked himself up in his studio. ‘Nobody Move’, ‘Rock This’, ‘Girls’, ‘Aeroplane’ and ‘Viruz’ were some resulting floor fillers, to name but a few.

In 2007, after a few successful collaborations with Gregor Salto, they decided to start a new record label named Samsobeats. On this label, new tracks are released from the hottest new DJ’s and producers who showed their talents to the world. Samsobeats wants to set a new feeling instead of a particular sound. That’s why you can expect very various tracks, from electro to latin. Every release must have the potential to grow into a floor filler.
With the Skitzofrenix he was responsible for the big summer hit ‘You don’t love me’. This tune is still ripping up the dance floors and was of course released on Samsobeats!
Then Sidney was hitting the charts with ‘Today’, featuring vocals of the talented Joni. This track is showing another side of Sidney and you can even hear him play the guitar in the breaks…
And last but not least, you really couldn’t have missed it: RIVERSIDE !

In charts all over the world for several weeks and even PLATINUM in Australia;
The single would have actually moved from #13 in the National Singles chart, back up to number #10, if it hadn’t have been for 8 Michael Jackson records entering the top 20. In the UK, Riverside entered the charts on #2 in January 2010 and has been fully supported by David Guetta, Laidback Luke, Diplo, A-trak, Tiga and Boyz Noize just to mention a few.
A lot happened since RIVERSIDE. And even though Sidney now travels around the globe, performing at the biggest festivals and in coolest clubs, he manages to maintain the same ‘no nonsense’ mentality that brought him this far.
Sidney: “I’m grateful for all the doors RIVERSIDE opened for me but I don’t intent to keep on riding out its success. I love DJ-ing but I’m a producer first. And now you have seen my RIVERside, I can’t wait to show you my other ‘sides’ (laughs)”.

And show his other sides he did, that of a great remixer for instance. Some of Sidney’s remix productions are yet to come out; others are already rocking the dance floors. From Kylie Minoque’s “Get Outta My Way” to Guetta’s “Getting Over You” and ” Commander”, Solveig’s “Hello” and Dead Prezz’s “Hip Hop”, it seems so far that Sidney Samson keeps meeting everyone’s anxious expectation. Everyone’s, but those who are still waiting for RIVERSIDE, the sequel.

Sidney: “As far as my own productions go, I’m learning every day. And I try to add new tricks to my box instead of repeating the same ones over and over again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But that is the risk I’m willing to take”.

So what has been cooking in Sidney Samson’s kitchen lately? The Punk Ass EP (Panorama) has been his latest release and already fully supported by all the top dj’s.

A follow up to ‘Dama S Salon’, a successful collaboration with DJ Gregory (FR) is gonna be released soon. Same goes for his collab with Steve Aoki, Wake up Call.

It seems Sidney Samson (which is his real name by the way) is not planning to slow down any time soon.
