Before summer 2014, when people mentioned the phrase beach blanket bingo, they were only talking about the 1965 film starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. But after this year, that is no longer the case.
Join Disco Donnie Presents, NightCulture, and Highland Concerts on Saturday, August 23, 2014 for what is sure to be the best day you’ll have at the beach all summer. Sun, sand, and sound come together for the first ever Beach Blanket Bingo Festival on the beautiful shores of Galveston Island, Texas.
The standard source of music for long beach days with friends is an iPod and portable speaker – but just so you know, this is anything but “standard” day at the beach. We’re packing in all kinds of world-known talent for your aural pleasure at Beach Blanket Bingo this year. Viral tastemaker Dillon Francis is the first scheduled to get us groovin’ on the shores, but rest assured, there are more artists to be announced, so check back to see if any of your favorites will join the inaugural edition.

Los Angeles’ Dillon Francis has broken from the throng of young electronic dj/producers. A pioneer of the Moombahton genre, Dillon has released two EPs through Diplo’s Mad Decent and Skrillex’s OWSLA labels, and his recent #1 EP This Mixtape is Fire (his first time snaring the top spot of the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart) released on Columbia records, signals new heights climbed and conquered for the talented artist/producer/DJ. This Mixtape Is Fire is the lively follow-up to his acclaimed 2014 full length album debut, Money Sucks, Friends Rule, and has been hailed as a star-studded offering (High-profile guests include Kygo on “Coming over,” Calvin Harris on “What’s Your Name,” Skrillex on “Bun Up the Dance,” as well as appearances by Chromeo, Bro Safari, and others) marking an inspired return to Francis’ Moombahton roots. Francis has also remixed and collaborated with a diverse array of artists including Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake, Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris, T.E.E.D., Diplo, A- trak, Zedd, DJ Snake, and Flux Pavillion.
Dillon’s unique blend of charisma and quick-witted humor have made him an internet phenomenon, with one of the most engaged social media audiences in existence. The viral success of his trademark campaigns #IDGAFOS, “DJ Awareness,” and alter-egos like “DJ Hanzel” and “DJ Richasfuck” have been the subject white-paper research and garnered the attention of film and TV producers.
Francis continues to headline premiere shows and festivals around the world. In 2014/2015 Dillon headlined a sold-out North American tour, and he hasn’t stopped performing since.
