Dance Responsibly at The Day After Festival

Panamá’s The Day After Festival is right around the corner and we are about to have the time of our lives! But before we get down to the sounds of Hardwell, Calvin Harris and Afrojack at our main stage, we’ve got some helpful tips and information to make sure you and your friends stay safe and responsible at this year’s event.

Stay Hydrated

There will be a lot of dancing January 10-12th and sometimes people will get sick from overheating and dehydration. We encourage you to drink lots of water, but remember drinking too much water can be dangerous!

Accidents surrounding music events have been associated with low levels of electrolytes that are lost along with water when one becomes dehydrated. Such low levels of electrolytes, especially salt, can lead to brain swelling, seizures, heart problems and even death.

So be sure to alternate between water and sports drinks that will naturally be provided for you. Gatorade will be made available upon request at information and medical booths located throughout the festival grounds.

Festival Costumes Encouraged

We will have world renowned acts pumping great music all night, so be sure to wear something comfortable, lightweight and easy to dance in. Dark colors absorb heat rays, so avoid wearing all dark clothes. You should also steer away from heavy fabrics and faux furs, always remembering that comfortable tennis shoes are the best option on the dance floor.

Find Your Buddy

The Day After Festival is set to draw in thousands of amazing people from the Americas, so it could be really easy to get separated from your group. Always keep track of where your friends are by setting up meeting points and sticking together.

Look out for one another. If you and your friends have been sweating, grab some water for the group to replenish nutrients lost – you can’t live off dancing alone. We will have personnel stationed around the festival, so be sure to ask for help if you or one of your friends needs it.

Is There a Doctor in the House?

Medical personnel will not only be readily accessible but ready to assist you at any time in the medical tent. Assistance is available to you should you need anything at all. Gatorade will also be made available upon request.

If you are feeling unwell, seek medical attention immediately. Your health and safety is more important than waiting for the drop.

There are plenty of ways to stay safe at The Day After Festival this year, so don’t miss out on your chance to go. Tickets are still available, buy your tickets today!

Lose Something at The Day After Festival? Check Lost and Found

If you lose a personal item at The Day After Festival, don’t lose hope! You can still recover IDs, cell phones, personal clothing items and more at the lost and found located at the Ticket Plus Box Office. Their hours are Friday 5:00 PM – 4:00 AM, Saturday 4:00 PM – 4:00 AM, and Sunday 1:00 PM – 12:00 AM. All unclaimed items will be taken to the main Ticket Plus office on Monday. Day After Sound Clash: Afrojack, Calvin Harris

Outside of ushering in a new year, we are equally as excited that The Day After Festival is just days away. Time is running out, so be sure to grab your tickets to the massive event to save big.

On this edition of our Day After Sound Clash, we are merging two artists who definitely have things under control. Though one is known for his dirty Dutch sound and the other for his ability to emote through any type of electronica, we’re excited to welcome Afrojack and Calvin Harris to Panama for The Day After Festival.

Afrojack

artist afrojackAfrojack is one of the biggest artists in the music game right now. The Dutchman made his debut in 2006 with the single “In Your Face” which scored #60 in the Dutch Top 100 and #3 in the Dutch Dance Top 30. A few years later, the budding talent started his now distinguished imprint Wall Recordings where he released a handful of his early hits like “Math” and “Drop Down (Do My Dance)” in 2008.

In 2010, Afrojack exploded with the release of “Take Over Control” with Eva Simmons. Filled with dirty synthesizers and a signature jackin’ house beat, the track was an instant worldwide club and chart hit and the record went platinum in the U.S. Success for the young artist has only continued to mount as his remixing efforts have been requested for a variety of artists including Michael Jackson, Avicii, PSY and even Donna Summer. Closing out 2013 with a bang, Afrojack’s latest efforts include a remix of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and a fresh original with “The Spark.”

Known for his playful use of Latin-inspired drums, high-pitched melodies, and insatiable energy, this dirty Dutch pioneer is just getting started. Get ready to for Afrojack to take over control at Figali Plaza for The Day After Festival.

Calvin Harris

artist calvin harrisCalvin Harris was one of the most successful songwriters in the world this past year. But his massive success came from humble beginnings. The Grammy nominated Scot was first drawn to electronic music around 1999 and began to record a series of demos at home. His first two songs “Da Bongos” and “Brighter Days” came out a few years later under the moniker Stouffer. Though his follow up track “Let Me Know,” with vocalist Ayah had relative success, Harris’ debut album I Created Disco was when things started to really heat up.

Released in 2007, the album debuted at #8 on the UK Albums Chart and by the following year, it was certified gold. Audiences were immediately drawn to tracks like “Acceptable in the 80s” and “The Girls” for their synth-pop electro influences coupled with catchy lyrics and universal melodies. Over the years, Calvin Harris has amassed countless hits and has produced songs for some of the music industry’s most popular artists like Mary J. Blige, Ke$ha, and Rihanna. To add to his long list of accomplishments, Harris’ 2011 single, “Feel So Close,” was his first solo single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States – a feat many dance artists can only dream of! “It’s an emotional, almost an emo vocal,” Harris says, “I can’t remember the last time guitars were in dance music like that. Also, it’s all real instruments. Nothing’s fake there: it’s real music, real melody and actual emotion. A lot of dance music now, it’s about being in the club and popping bottles over this cheap-sounding synth that people can make so easily and get somebody else to mix. I’m not about that.”

Still buzzing from his massive remix of Fatboy Slim and Riva Starr’s “Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat,” Harris’ latest release of “Under Control” with Alesso and Hurts, proves Calvin Harris will surely have things under control when he takes the stage at Figali Plaza for The Day After Festival.
