Tracing back to its root meaning, the Barong Family album documentary opens in Bali, Indonesia before the whole squad holes up to collaborate via a sequestered cabin in the north of France. According to the film, all you could hear were birds chirping and the sounds of an 808 kick drum. Over the course of seven days, Yellow Claw brought everyone together to make as much music as possible.
“It’s basically a week at school,” said Nils describing the creative environment, where everyone was able to get a glimpse into each other’s work process, picking up some tips and tricks along the way. Ever the risk-takers, the short-form documentary celebrates the fact that sometimes to achieve what you’ve always dreamed, you must first make the ultimate sacrifice and risk it all.
