One of our favorite moments upon arriving to a festival, is when you’re pulling up and start to hear that “unts, unts, unts” growing louder the closer you get to the gates. A jolt of excitment overcomes you, and when you look out the windown, you realize the event you’ve waited so long for, has finally arrived! We are now only days away from having that exact feeling at Meltdown Music Festival. If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, you can still purchase both general admission and VIP tickets online.
And speaking of “unts,” are you as excited about the many hard-hitting and diverse acts about to take our stage as we are?
Delta Heavy
“DELTΆHEÃŽâ€VY x Speedboat Mix”
Delta Heavy has had a long tie to the dubstep and drum and bass community. Being a part of the new generation of artists to come out of legendary Ram Records, this Meltdown duo has been known to do some serious damage to dance floors around the world.
Why We Love It
If you’re wanting the massive, in-your-face Delta Heavy style, you might be disappointed. A far cry from their electro influences and slamming drums with razor sharp production, the Speedboat mix is a relaxed four-to-the-floor inspired mix. Yes, Si James and Ben Hallis take us on a house journey from start to finish, weaving in and out of the UK’s garage/bass trend and working in some techno, that gives a nod to the early 90’s, without sounding archaic. We love when DJ’s switch it up, and this detour mix definitely earns Delta Heavy some bragging rights.
Bro Safari
“Diplo and Friends on BBC Radio One”
About three months ago, the always entertaining Diplo invited Meltdown artist Bro Safari to come and share some air time on the popular BBC Radio One Syndicate.
Why We Love It
Anyone wanting to listen to this mix on a weak sound system, has some serious problems coming their way. There is an incessant amount of sub-bass that would probably shatter a glass, were it to be turned up completely. And that’s if you have a sub-woofer. With out that, you’ve still got a bass heavy (understatment) hour of Bro Safari seamlessly mixing trap, moombahton, electro house, and then miraculously back to trap. Featuring tracks from a few of our other artists, if this is what it’s like to be on a bro safari, count us in!
W&W
“Live at Ultra Music Festival Miami @ A State Of Trance 600 Stage”
Armin van Buuren once told the world to watch out for Wardt and Willem, the two making up Meltdown artist W&W. The Dutch duo has been on a whirlwind of successful releases, sold-out festivals and shows worldwide, and the honor of being hand-picked by Armin to play alongside him at the A State of Trance 600 stage at this year’s Ultra Music Festival.
Why We Love It
These boys certainly know how to control a room. Or should i say audience? W&W’s set from Ultra is a true, 100% festival set, filled with high-energetic drops, driving kick drums to keep you moving the whole time, and songs that make you want to hug and sing to the person next to you. Each song is placed in the set perfectly, so after the harder , soft, uplifting ones were to follow. Well-balanced and ready for any weekend playlist.
