Antiserum‘s roots in bass music emerged in the Bay Area, where he started to merge heavy drums, rolling bass lines with intuitive melodies. Born Mike Shumer, his tight production techniques have been inspired from a variety of styles like hip hop, funk, drum and bass and reggae. The Something Wicked artist’s live show is full of high-octane mixes and emotional progressions that gives his fans a perfect dose of bass energy.
Though dubstep is popular trend, Antiserum doesn’t get flustered by it, “Well, for starters, I don’t listen to dubstep. I feel like that’s been really helpful for me lately. I have also been eating more at the taco truck by my house, which seems to be helping my production output a lot! No joke!” His plan seems to be working. In 2008, Antiserum landed the 8th best-selling bass track on Beatport while reaching a vast global audience. His debut single “Skull Fucked” is full of dark sounds and intriguing atmospheres. After this milestone, he launched his first tour in Australia and New Zealand, exposing his music to a new fan base.
Antiserum’s artistic reach far exceeds the confines of just dance music. In 2012, the Wicked talent’s collaboration “Droid Prom” with live musician Dubsworth appeared in the opening scenes of CSI: Miami’s “Friendly Fire” episode. His list of successful collaborations doesn’t end there. A partnership with Atlanta bass music producer Mayhem “Brick Squad Anthem” got huge support from heavyweights like Skillex, Diplo, Datsik and Flux Pavilion. The track “Bass Salt” with 12th Planet was featured on Rolling Stone and releases with Smog Records and Caspa’s Dub Police imprint have established Antiserum as one of the future growing artists of sub-heavy music.
Still pounding out free remixes and originals that keep fans coming back for more, we can’t wait to see his amazing performance at Something Wicked this Saturday, October 26th. Grab your tickets today.
