Meltdown Music Festival Announces One-Hour Time Adjustment

Disco Donnie Presents, Full Access, and Prototype Industries have announced that Meltdown Music Festival‘s operating hours will be adjusted by one hour when its gates are opened Saturday, April 27th at QuikTrip Park. The decision to open the festival an hour earlier comes from our discussions with the City of Grand Prairie to ensure that Meltdown met and exceeded the city’s sound codes.

Our communications director Evan Bailey says, “We regret having to alter advertised times of any show, but fan safety and working with communities, always comes first. We are extremely thankful for the care and assistance The City of Grand Prairie has shown us in developing a solution to provide the same amount of music for the fans, while working within the City’s codes.”

So instead of 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM, we will live out our “We Are All Together” motto from 4:00 PM – 1:00 AM. Don’t worry, our lineup and set lengths haven’t changed. The main stage will now end programming at 1:00 AM and the second stage’s hours will end at midnight. See you soon and remember, tickets are still available!

Meltdown Music Festival Artist Profile: Kill Paris

With only eight days until we dance out Meltdown Music Festival‘s motto of “We Are All Together,” the time to grab your tickets is running out. We can’t wait to bring some of the most creatively diverse talent from all around the world to deep in the heart of Texas. Meltdown artist Kill Paris knows a little something about creativity, utilizing his capabilities of Ableton Live and his own custom controller to play and loop bass, guitar, synth, and drum instrumentation all while mixing in and out of songs.

Born, Corey Baker, Kill Paris first dove into music composition at the ripe age 16 and later, go on to receive his recording arts degree in Florida. Though he produced for and performed with several country music bands/singers in Nashville after graduation, his penchant for electronic music would be what led him to his current home of Los Angeles.

One of the many great things about Kill Paris, is his affinity for giving his music away for free. Not only does his Soundcloud feature over 20 songs for free download, but he offered a “name your own price” option for his 2012 album The Beginning. With his live sets made almost entirely of his own originals and remixes, expect a show unlike anything you’ve ever seen before when Kill Paris takes the Meltdown stage.

Don’t miss your chance to witness Kill Paris’s innovative show April 27th, buy your tickets today!

Meltdown Music Festival Artist Profile: Justice (DJ Set)

“We are your friends! You’ll never be alone again, so come on!”

These are quite possibly one of the best lyrics to echo Meltdown Music Festival‘s 2013 motto of “We Are All Together.” And it helps that the song the lyrics came from, featured, none other, than Meltdown headliner, Justice (DJ Set).

Stylized like Justice, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay have left in-erasable impact on dance music. The two first started to gain recognition through their 2003 remix of Simian’s track “Never Be Alone,” originally created for a Paris college radio station’s remix contest. The remix and Justice, were both eventually scooped up by Ed Banger Records and became a club and internet sensation. The song was re-released in 2004 and eventually given a commercial release in the summer of 2006 and renamed “We Are Your Friends.”

The following year, Justice cemented themselves in anthem status by asking the world one question, “Do you D.A.N.C.E.?” The song was featured on their debut album † released in 2007, which was later nominated for a Grammy under the Best Electronic/Dance Album category. Though it was shortlisted that year, their remix of the MGMT song “Electric Feel” won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical in 2009.

Justice recently announced that they are going to release a live album in May. But you can get a sneak peek of what the recording might sound like by catching them spin their headlining DJ set at Meltdown Music Festival, Saturday, April 27th. Grab your tickets now and come D.A.N.C.E.

Magnetic Music Festival Artist Profile: Cazzette

Is the fact that Magnetic Music Festival is right around the corner making you as antsy as we are? In just a few days, some of the most diverse acts from all over the world (and the region) will be heading down to the KSU Sports and Recreation Park to kick off the debut event. One of those diverse acts is Swedish producing DJ duo Cazzette.

Consisting of Sebastian Furrer and Alexander Björklund, the two have gone from 0 to 60 at neck-breaking speeds thanks in part to manager Ash Pournouri. Within days of launching the Cazzette name, their first release, a remix for Avicii, “Sweet Dreams (Cazzette meet AT NIGHT Mix)” had shot into Beatport’s Top 20 and sat there for six straight weeks.

The two would later go on to create a bootleg of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World,” only to have it accepted as an official remix by their fellow countrymen. Their bootleg of the popular Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” went straight to the number one spot on Hype Machine’s Most Popular list after being uploaded to their Soundcloud.

Cazzette cemented themselves in the hearts of many in 2013 when their album Eject became the first album ever to be released exclusively via Spotify. And although that move didn’t ring much in revenue, anyone willing to deliver their infectious music to the masses for free, is ok in our book. We can’t wait to get our fix of their trademark dubhouse this weekend.

You still have a chance to let Cazzette beam you up when they perform on Magnetic’s stage this Saturday, April 20th – buy your tickets today!
