Nina Kraviz launched her трип (pronounced 'trip') label in December 2014, with a double- EP compilation entitled 'The Deviant Octopus', and has since gone on to release music by emerging talents and veteran producers including Bjarki, Terrence Dixon/ Population One, Parrish Smith, Nikita Zablin, Deniro, K-Hand, Roma Zuckerman, Steve Stoll, Exos and Kraviz herself.
трип is a forward thinking record label for both the brain and body, where the music crosses boundaries and genres. In it's short life span, трип has realized Kraviz heartfelt aesthetic and love of idiosyncratic electronic music, as well as spawning Bjarki's huge crossover techno hit 'I Wanna Go Bang' and unique events, the first of which took place in a magical Icelandic cave. Each release has a clear concept behind it, connecting the music and art, so each functions on it's own like a family relationship. Every трип concept EP presents no hierarchy among the new or established producers, their place coming from the whole connection of the music, story and artwork. On трип, even the seemingly senseless makes sense.
The artwork and story for each release are as considered as the music, where each 8 track EP can be played and mixed together in unending combinations. Supplied with each scenario dreamt up by Kraviz for the release, artist Tombo renders his own unique visualization for the artwork that adorns the release sleeve. It's Kraviz's own nod to the labels that inspire her and grab her attention while digging through second hand records, the best of which were imbued with the unique personality of the people behind them. This extends to the sound Kraviz is realizing for трип: dusky, divergent and trippy music to stimulate brains, dreams and fantasies.
