Project 46

Project 46 made an undeniable impact on the progressive house scene this year, on a meteoric rise that started when their breakthrough Monstercat release Reasons featuring vocals by Andrew Allen went straight past Tiesto to the #1 overall spot on Beatport.

Living at opposite ends of the country has not slowed down the steady flow of productions from the Project 46 studios, as Ryan and Thomas find time to post new tracks on their Soundcloud page at least weekly. Their refreshing mixes of originals, remixes, bootlegs, and mashups have kept fans engaged and drawn massive support from followers across the globe.

Fast forward a few months, and releases on SPINNIN and Manufactured Music combined with their solid studio output and touring schedule earned Project 46 a well deserved placement on the Top 100 DJs list, squeezing in at #100, joining Richie Hawtin and Deadmau5 as the only Canadians to make this year’s poll.

Topher Jones

Topher Jones is a breakout American DJ poised to take the country by storm and put Chicago back on the map as the house capital of the world. Hailing from the Windy City and signed to a major deal with Ultra Records, Topher’s current release schedule has been slammed with massive originals and remixes on the likes of Ultra, OWSLA, Dim Mak, Garuda, and Spinnin.

His hit single, ‘Brohammer’, was called a ‘beast of a track’ by EDM legend Gareth Emery and featured on his ‘Best of 2012 Mix,’ hit the top 10 overall on Beatport, and received support from DJs across the globe. Also featuring a Nari & Milani remix, ‘Brohammer’ continuously smashed sets and was one of the biggest tracks of 2012.

Topher’s music has been played by DJs across musical genres, from Tiesto to Skrillex, Armin van Buuren to Knife Party, Gareth Emery to Deadmau5, Above and Beyond to Afrojack. His records seamlessly cross musical boundaries as they dip and dive between big room house, dirty basslines, and carefully crafted melodies. A songwriter as well as a producer, Topher has a hand in every aspect of the recording process and takes great pride in creating songs with depth and character.

An Indianapolis native who moved to Chicago after college, Topher continues to attack his craft with the same single-minded passion and determination. When asked about his success, he said, “Hard work trumps everything. Be kind, be courteous, be passionate and be grateful. Hard work with that mentality and a little bit of talent can go a long way.” This mindset not only affects his music, but also how Topher interacts with his fans and community as he consistently donates time and money to causes in the greater Chicago area.

2013 has started out with a bang for Topher. His first release of the year, a remix of Tritonal & Kaeno’s ‘Azuca,’ jumped 40 spots on the Beatport Electro House chart in less than a week. 2013 also saw the launch of Topher’s “Hello North America Tour,” an ode to his Windy City anthem ‘Hello Chicago’ with Amada. This year will continue to be full of more original music, remixes, collaborations, and tour dates.

So be ready, the future of American house music is here.

Meltdown Music Festival: Morgan Page and Zomboy Mashup!

If you clash the sound of artists Morgan Page and Zomboy, you might end up with a zombified young man dancing to soft, melodic strings. Or you might get a glitched-out whispery female vocal who’s had another night out on another dance floor, but smells a little “undead.” No matter how different the two Meltdown artists are, Morgan Page and Zomboy have both made a great impact over the span of their contrasting careers and we cannot wait to see each of them perform on our stages.

Morgan Page

Morgan Page has been making electronic music since the age of 12. Years later, when he finally had the courage to, he sent in demo cassette tapes to a local college radio station, WRUV 90.1 FM at the University of Vermont. Both the DJs and listeners loved the tracks and they ended up playing the low-fi tapes, even with the grainy, 8-bit sound. Later, Morgan would go on to mail a demo tape to 99.9 FM “The Buzz” to production managing DJ Jason Steeves who hosted an electronic specialty music show. The tape received weekly airplay and Page continued to move forward.

Known for hits like “Fight For You,” “Longest Road,” and the anthem featuring Deadmau5, “Move For Me,” Page has left an indelible mark on dance music today. We can’t wait to shout his memorable lyrics at the top of our lungs as he performs on the stage for this year’s Meltdown Music Festival. You can sing along with us too, buy your tickets today!

Zomboy

The half zombie and half boy, may have a background in traditional sound engineering, which included running his own recording studio, but it wasn’t until he moved to Guildford, England to study Music production at the Academy of Contemporary Music that Zomboy discovered a new admiration for dance music. And it was a good thing too, since his debut EP Game Time was in the top 5 of Beatport’s dubstep chart for over eight weeks. Within six months, tracks were being licensed on eight music compilations on various labels like Warner Music and Ministry of Sound. Known for his filthy and grimy take on dubstep, you can see the undead producer Zomboy for this year’s Meltdown Music Festival, but only if you buy your tickets now!
