Sunset Music Festival Sound Mashup: Crizzly and Danny Avila

In just a few short weeks, Sunset Music Festival will be a beautiful mosaic of people from different backgrounds, unique personalities, and varied ages. And that includes our lineup as well. Sunset artists Crizzly and Danny Avila may come from opposite ends of the world and have two different music styles, but we love how these two producers have made huge waves in dance music, all before the age of 21.

Crizzly

Crizzly is a sharp-shooter anytime he hits the stage around the country. Channeling a hyperactive energy, the producing DJ gets every crowd going with his perfected fusion of dubstep and hip-hop, which he, and now the world call, “Crunkstep.” However, there’s a lot more to the now 21-year-old artist.

Born Christopher Marshall, the Texas native grew up in a small town outside of San Antonio without much of a dance scene to speak of. The ability to burrow through record stores and discover music was not an option, so a young Crizzly found most inspiration for music making from videos on the internet. Although he was making “weird stuff” in his bedroom when he was 15, Crizzly didn’t stumble upon dance music or production until he was 19. Picking up a set of turntables shortly thereafter, the first gigs he scored were usually birthday parties. Production followed with Crizzly bootlegging/remixing rap songs that he heard on YouTube. He released his own versions of Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard in Da Paint” and “Snap Back Swag” from AJ Hernz, and set the worldwide blogosphere alight. Multiple websites began reposting his cuts and edits and Crizzly developed a fervent following.

Known for combining fresh hip-hop lyrics with the undeniable sounds of dubstep/drumstep, Crizzly has found his perfect niche in the electronic music scene. We can’t wait to get crunk with Crizzly when he takes the stage for Sunset Music Festival.

Danny Avila

In just a little over a year, Danny Avila has become one of the biggest contenders for dance music’s next generation of talent. With over 200 shows all around the world, releases on revered labels like Big Beat Records and Interscope Records, support from some of the biggest players in the music industry, a residency on SiriusXM and just recently finishing the Generation Wild Tour across the US and Canada, Danny Avila has seen a meteoric rise to prominence, and he’s just getting started.

At the ripe old age of 16, the Spainish prodigy won the ‘Best Newcomer DJ’ at the prestigious 2011 Vicious Music Awards, and it has been nothing but a string of successes following suit. In the year 2013 alone, Danny debuted at Ultra Music Festival and Coachella, released a mixed compilation out on the legendary Ministry of Sound, and was just recently announced as the resident for Hakassan in Vegas at the MGM Grand. Needless to say, Danny is having a pretty good year.

Danny Avila’s production and DJ sets are what set him apart from the competition. Known for his innate track selections that explode with energy and are brimming with creativity, his mixes are always bold, fresh, and original. So to answer your question, yes, we are ready to jump. Sound Off With Meltdown Music Festival Artist Deniz Koyu!

Meltdown Music Festival is overflowing with diverse talent ranging in age from all over the globe. Deniz Koyu might be the epitome of this statement. The young and extremely talented producing DJ making the heads of older veterans and newcomers turn.

The German born Turk Deniz Akcakoyunlu was only five when his parents forced him to learn how to play the piano. “I didn’t like it at all, but my parents forced me. I hated it at the time, but now I am happy they did it.” He later discovered a love of synthesizers and drums, getting inspiration from artists like Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, and Kraftwerk. As a teenager, Deniz spent his free time editing and then DJing his favorite songs on tape recorders. All of that hard work would start to pay off in 2011 when Deniz’s releases “Tung” and “Hertz” along with remixes “Dangerous” and “Turn It Down” became house anthems for venues and festivals across the world, being championed by Tiësto, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, David Guetta, and Calvin Harris. “Breakthrough DJ/Producer” and “a blazing new talent” are just a few of the phrases used by industry greats to describe Deniz.

Fresh off of successful US tour with Danny Avila, dBerrie and Mikael Weermets, Generation Wild, Deniz continues on in 2013 with his new radio show on Electric Area called Bongbastic and a few collaborations with Tiësto, Otto Knows, and Thomas Gold. We hope to hear some of these future releases this Saturday when Deniz Koyu takes the stage at Meltdown Music Festival.

Join us at Meltdown Music Festival for Deniz Koyu this Saturday, April 27th! Tickets are still available, buy your tickets now!
