Sun City Music Festival Sound Clash: Cassy, Le Castle Vania

Today, we’re clashing the sounds of two Sun City Music Festival artists – one that’s home grown, and another imported from across the Atlantic. Though their styles are completely different, both Cassy and Le Castle Vania know how to bring the house down, which is exactly what they’ll do come August 31st and September 1st. Buy your tickets today to score the best deal.

Cassy

Sun City talent Cassy has had a long-standing respect in the house music community. Currently holding down residencies at four of the world’s leading venues in Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, and New York City, it is clear that Cassy’s demand has a global reach.

Born Catherine Britton, Cassy is deeply rooted in her love for music and the arts. Born in London to a Caribbean father and Austrian mother, Cassy moved to Vienna at an early age and was surrounded by a city that was soaked in music history. “I listened to a lot of classical music when I was younger, and jazz, as that is what my family were into – George Benson was someone I saw in concert with my Dad. The first record I actually bought was Madness ‘One Step Beyond’ – and I have never come back from that step.”

Though her first foray into the music industry was as a vocalist on Autorepeat’s “Music Takes Me Higher” on Sabotage Records, it was DJing and production that has won her heart. One thing we love most about Cassy is that she doesn’t stick to one genre – you can always find her gliding between house and techno, with a tinge of Viennese traditions. Still representing for the DJs who continue to use vinyl, Cassy knows how to incorporate a soulful balance in her DJ sets that takes her audience on a crazy adventure. We’re sure you’ll get to see this live when Cassy takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival on August 31st and September 1st. Buy your tickets today!

Le Castle Vania

Internationally known, Georgia native, Le Castle Vania first started out playing in traditional rock bands. After an unsuccessful attempt to master the drums, Le Castle Vania began DJing at warehouse parties and raves in Atlanta when he was only 16. Born Dylan Eiland, he was instantly drawn to the city’s growing music scene as it allowed him to develop his passion for music and nightlife. It didn’t take long for him to gain recognition with his frenzy-inducing DJ sets and knack for creating dancing floor ready productions.

Le Castle Vania has steadily toured since the summer of 2006, taking his catchy electro vibes to the masses. His live performances are always brimming with great energy and an even better track selection. If he’s not on the road, you can catch him in the studio, writing tracks with his signature sound which is a banging combination of gritty disco punk, memorable synths and soldiering electronic beats. Nobody gets out alive when Le Castle Vania takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival this year. Have you bought your tickets yet?

Sun City Music Festival Artist Profile: Scuba

Paul Rose’s output as Scuba has been classified under many styles. Getting an early jumpstart, Scuba has submersed himself (no pun intended) in all aspects of music. “I played in bands from quite a young age. I played guitar and keyboards and various other things. I was quite into guitar-playing, but I always more into writing music than playing it, from quite early on…So I did the band thing for a while, had some bad band experiences, as lots of people have, and I guess I gradually got into electronic music by the typical route really — started going out and going to clubs and gradually got into the music as well as the going out part of it.” DJ, producer and promoter, Scuba sunk his teeth into jungle and techno in London, and eventually became involved with local pirate radio and participated in some of the city’s biggest club nights.

Having founded the Hotflush imprint early in his career, the label has been home to most of his releases. Though his initial productions were primarily dark, spacious dubstep tracks, but he developed a looser, funkier, and melodic approach to his sound, while simultaneously using his SCB alias for his house and techno releases. After cementing his and the label’s name in the London scene, Scuba relocated to Berlin in 2007. His debut album A Mutual Antipathy released a year after his move, showcased the then unheard of marriage of techno and dubstep. His second album, Triangulation explored a wider range of styles, featuring not only dubstep and techno, but relaxed house and minimal drum and bass.

Currently, you can find Scuba holding down a number of gigs all around the world. His recent mixes for Ibizia Spotlight highlight just how well Scuba has continuously evolved and remastered his sound. With a knack to take any dance floor on a uniquely innovative journey, Scuba has undeniably become a key figure for the current pulse of Europe’s music trends. We’re sure you’ll get a truly one-of-a-kind experience when Scuba takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival, going down on August 31st and September 1st. Sun City Music Festival Sound Clash: Danny Avila, Baauer

The countdown to Sun City Music Festival continues. We are just weeks away from Texas’ largest dance music event taking place at El Paso’s Ascarate Park August 31st and September 1st. Purchase your tickets online now and save.

For today’s Sun City Sound Clash, we are merging the styles of two fresh new talents in dance music. Though one is breaking your fall while the other is making you shake, we can’t get enough of the innovative sounds coming from the productions of budding acts Danny Avila and Baauer – no matter just how different those two sounds may be.

Danny Avila

Still a relative newcomer to the industry, Danny Avila has already become one of the biggest contenders for dance music’s next generation of talent. With releases on revered labels like Big Beat Records and Interscope Records, support from some heavy players, a residency in Las Vegas and a radio show broadcast around the globe, it’s easy to understand why Danny Avila has seen such a meteoric rise. At the ripe old age of 16, the Spanish prodigy won the ‘Best Newcomer DJ’ at the prestigious 2011 Vicious Music Awards, and it has been nothing but a string of successes following suit. His big-room debut single, “Breaking Your Fall” led to Danny being highlighted as one of Billboard’s “21 Under 21: Ones to Watch 2012.”

Danny Avila’s production and DJ sets are what set him apart from the competition. Neil Moffit of Hakkassan Las Vegas says, “it’s Avila’s captivating drive and youthful spirit that breathes life into his performances. Known for his innate track selections that explode with energy and are brimming with creativity, his mixes are always bold, fresh, and original.

So to answer your question, Danny, yes. We are ready to jump. Come jump with us when Danny Avila takes the stage at Sun City Music Festival.

Baauer

Bass music extraordinaire Harry Rodrigues, better known as Baauer, has been producing dance music since the tender age of 13. Making mostly house and electro under his previous pseudonym Captain Harry, his current influence stems from hip-hop as made evident by his debut single “Harlem Shake.”

Originally released on Diplo’s Mad Decent/Jeffrees imprint in May of last year, the track was slow to catch on. The single did not begin to sell significantly until February of this year, when a YouTube video with the single in the background turned into an internet meme of the same name. “Harlem Shake” created a viral video craze online, with people from all around the world uploading their own videos for the hit. The single charted at number one for five consecutive weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 while it also reached number three in the UK and number one in both Australia and New Zealand. That’s some debut!

Following the success of his international mega-hit, Baauer has just recently collaborated with hip-hop superproducer and other Sun City talent Just Blaze on their latest release “Higher.” Known for the crisp snares, gnarley basslines, and random fun samples he uses on his production, get to Sun City Music Festival August 31st and September 1st to get your shake on when Baauer takes the stage.
