Atlanta Motor Speedway

Atlanta Motor Speedway

Located on 887 acres in Hampton, Ga., just 25 miles south of Atlanta, Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of the country’s top sports, corporate, family and entertainment facilities.

Since holding its first race in 1960, Atlanta Motor Speedway has become a premiere facility for multiple forms of racing in addition to a wide range of other events which have included concerts, family gatherings, business conventions and the Georgia State Fair.

The track was purchased in 1990 by Bruton Smith, and since then, AMS has been the benefactor of tremendous facility improvements, starting with the addition of the 25,000-seat Elliott Grandstand.

In 1994, Tara Place, the nine-story building that houses 46 luxury condominiums, Tara Ballroom, the speedway office complex and more luxury suites opened, as did the adjacent Tara Clubhouse and its accompanying swimming pool and tennis courts.

A year later, the Earnhardt Grandstand opened, and in 1997, the great transformation was completed. The Champions Grandstand was added, and the total of luxury suites was increased to 137. When the Champions Grandstand was built, the start/finish line was moved from the west to the east side of the track, and two doglegs were added to the frontstretch to form a 1.54-mile quad-oval, which replaced the original oval. New media facilities, garages and countless fan support buildings were added to what has become a modern motorsports palace.

In October, 2006 Atlanta Motor Speedway added another Grandstand, the Winners Grandstand, offering fans a great view of the frontstretch and pit road. A Trackside Terrace Luxury RV Camping area replaced the aged Weaver Grandstands as well.

Sitting atop the Winners Grandstand is a public suite called Club One. Limited to just 1,000 occupants, the exclusive club offers a climate controlled view of the entire track as well as a rooftop sight and sound observation deck.

Something Wicked Drop: Crizzly and Figure announce 30+ date North American Tour; Simon Patterson climbs Beatport's psy-trance chart

For this week’s edition of the Something Wicked Festival Drop, three of our acts are making waves in dance music news. Two are making waves for the journey they are about to embark on and the other for adding some sizzle to Beatport’s genre charts.

Crizzly and Figure announce 30+ date All Black Everything Tour

Dance music fans are still buzzing about a recent announcement involving two rising names in bass music. Something Wicked ghoulish talents Crizzly and Figure are joining forces to bring you the co-headlining “All Black Everything” tour this coming fall and winter. With 30+ dates over North America, the two will be switching off the closing set time every night.

Crizzly and Figure have been destroying the festival market recently. Crizzly with his ní®che blend of dubstep, trap, and hip-hop, deeming it “crunkstep.” And Figure with his filthy, raw take on dub/drumstep. It’s about time these boys embarked on a massive tour, and do you want to know the best part? The tour is coming to Something Wicked on October 26th. Don’t miss out on your chance to see these two rising talents take the stage at the Sam Houston Race Park. Tickets are available now, so buy yours today!

Simon Patterson sitting at #2 on Beatport’s psy-trance chart with “Contraband”

artist simon pattersonStill reveling in the success of his #1 hit “The One” on Armin van Buurens’s Armind imprint, Simon Patterson teamed up with king of psy-breaks, Blazer, to create the mind-mending banger “Contraband.” Released the second week of August, the Contraband EP contains remixes of the track from each artist. With broken and four-to-the-floor beats, the extended player is a well-paired balance, showing the world why these two are leading the pack in their respective genres.

Now three weeks after its original release, Simon Patterson’s remix continues to climb Beatport’s psy-trance chart. Now sitting at #2, the track gives a nod to the early days of acid house in this monster of a production. We hope to hear this banned track when Simon Patterson performs at Something Wicked 2013. AWOL Sun Artist Profile: Rony Seikaly

artist rony seikalyInternational music sensation Rony Seikaly has made an astronomical rise in the DJ ranks recently. Over the past three years, the former NBA superstar, who ironically received the nickname “€œThe Spin Doctor”€ on the court, has released two EPs, a full-mix album, and now has his own radio show on Sirius/XM Electric Area called SugarFree. More than a decade since his last basketball game, Rony is becoming a regular on the dance music circuit, performing at some of the world’s biggest clubs including his residency in Ibizia.

Ronald Seikaly is not new to music or DJing. Born in Beirut and growing up in Athens, Greece, Rony has had a music room in every home he has lived in since the age of 14, which, coincidentally is the same year he began DJing. Being exposed to everything from the Police, Genesis, KISS and even classical music, Rony’s music room was his haven to play music for friends, parties, birthdays et cetera.

Spending six of the eleven seasons he played in the NBA with the Miami Heat, Rony’s teammates knew little about his love of music, teasing him for his “Euro” tastes and knack for disco and pop. Now retired from basketball, Rony can pursue the career he’s secretly admired all this time. “Sports will always be my love. But music will always be my passion.”

With friends often retreating to his “playroom” in Miami, Rony’s current music room is set up like a mellow, garage-sized lounge, with dim lighting and a mirrored Buddha perched high on a shelf. A faux bar actually holds CDJs and a mixer (not drinks) and the room is equipped with an often overlooked club-level sound system. This, of course, is a hot-spot for Rony and his cronies, and over the years, as more friends were exposed to his talents, the more he was encouraged to share his DJing skills and selection with the public. Finally convinced to perform out in 2008, Rony played to a crowd in Miami’s Mokai Nightclub, “It turned out to be an amazing night.”

As one might expect with his diverse musical background, Rony’s DJing style mirrors as such. With a deep-rooted knowledge of the music that has inspired him and influenced his unique style, house music legend Erick Morillo dubs his sound, “Rony Style.” Rony himself loosely defines his sound as “happy underground.” Utilizing a driving, uplifting, and energetic track selection, Rony’s body-shaking beats all figure seamlessly into his sets. “It’s underground in the sense that it’s not music you are going to hear on the radio; But it is also not music that is going to scare you away. It is happy, sexy club music.” Currently celebrating recent releases “Thanks For Everything” and “You Make Me Feel” with Jean Claude Ades, we are ready to hear some happy, sexy club music by “The Spin Doctor” when we go on vacation with Rony Seikaly on October 10-13th for AWOL Sun 2013 in Cabo San Lucas. Reserve your room today and take advantage of our payment plans!

Who is he?

Disco Donnie Presents brings Gareth Emery to Portland, Scottsdale, Nashville, Gainesville, Columbus!

British producing DJ Gareth Emery is one of those people who are seemingly good at everything. Before his debut vinyl release in 2002, Gareth ran a nightclub and record label, both called Garuda, received a degree in Politics, trained in classical piano, and even played guitar for a punk band in the mid-nineties. Having dabbled in many aspects of the music industry, it’s no wonder Gareth is a successful producer as well.

Though his debut release was a white label remix of The Shrink’s classic “Nervous Breakdown,” the track that really set his career alight is considered to be his third release, “Mistral” under his GTR moniker. Paul van Dyk debuted the track on the radio during the world-famous Nature One Festival in 2002, which lead to the support of the leading DJs like Tiësto, Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten. Eleven years later and Gareth is still going strong, releasing a steady stream of output including recent hits like “Meet Her in Miami,” “The Saga,” and “Concrete Angel.”

With fans around the globe still yearning for more, Gareth is about to embark on his biggest North American tour yet. Beginning on August 31st, Gareth will be making over 21 stops all throughout the continent, spreading his infectious melodies to the masses. We’re excited to meet him in your neighborhood this fall.
