Club Cirque Artist Profile: Waka Flocka

artist waka flockaWith over five years in the rap game, Club Cirque artist Waka Flocka Flame is certainly no newcomer to the music industry. Topping Billboard’s US Rap chart with his studio albums at #1 and #2, Waka is about to embark on a new journey with his third album which will go hard in the paint for dance music.

Born Juaquin Malphurs in Jamaica, Queens, Waka grew up outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Musically maturing on his ascent to the top, his first mixtape, Salute Me or Shoot Me, Vol. 1 featured Waka Flocka’s breakout single “O Let’s Do It.” The single hit #7 on the Billboard’s US Rap chart and #62 on Billboard’s Hot 100. After a stellar debut, Waka followed up with another smash hit in 2010 with “Hard In Da Paint,” the lead single on his debut artist album Flockaveli. Produced by the legendary Lex Luger, the track is easily recognizable by the synth brass leads and the machine gun drum samples. With a key change midway through the track, “Hard In Da Paint,” as you would imagine, hits hard. Flockaveli debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 and he was named the eighth hottest MC of 2010 by MTV.

With his career continuing to pick up speed, in 2012 Waka released his sophomore album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, & Family. The album featured Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Flo Rida and Drake who was featured on the popular track “Round Of Applause.”

Currently, Waka Flocka is readying for his third album, Flockaveli II. With Atlantic Records as his new label, Waka is making some new changes in his career. “I’m highly educated now music industry wise. I’m not just somebody jumping into a field I don’t know. I actually learned it through a couple of methods, put my blueprint out on display and it worked not just for me and the company I was working with, but numerous people’s careers. Basically I know my shit now–I know what I need to win.” The album, due out in 2014, will feature dance music heavy weights Skrillex, Diplo, and the trap twosome, Flosstradamus.

We’re excited to see Waka’s latest evolution when he joins Steve Aoki and Borgore to take over Club Cirque’s main tent with the Aokify America Tour. “I’m not bullsh*ttin’ with this album. I’m going hard.” Get ready for the second coming of Waka Flocka Flame on Saturday, October 19th. Tickets are still available, so grab yours today!

Sound Wave Block Party Artist Profile: Audien

artist audienAt the ripe young age of 21, Audien is wise beyond his years. Music trivia enthusiast, producer and DJ, we’re ready to rise and shine with this Sound Wave talent this Saturday, September 21st.

Born in the small seaport town of Mystic, Connecticut, Nate Rathbun began creating music in a small apartment in 2008. “Growing up in a small town has the feel of a very safe environment, very little partying. I found electronic music by accident through my brother actually, we just started listening to Armin’s show a long time ago and we’ve kind of been really hooked on it, and it’s we’ve sort of based our life around it. So it’s a major thing for us.”

When he was 17, while most of his friends were preparing their college applications, Nate was preparing a different journey of his own. Though unwarranted, Nate began sending some of his tracks to producers, labels and various bloggers. Though he was confident in his sound, he was unsure if he would hear back from a random demo submission. He was wrong. He received an enthusiastic response came from Ferry Corsten’s Flashover Recordings. Backed with a stellar endorsement, Audien’s debut single “Rise and Shine” was released.

But the list of legendary imprints knocking on Audien’s door didn’t end there. Over the next two years, a slew of renowned labels came calling, in love with Audien’s innovative sonic atmospheres and soft melodies. In that span, Audien churned out originals and remixes for labels like Enhanced, Armada, Black Hole and Nervous. Audien’s popularity continued to grow exponentially as his tracks began to appear frequently on internationally syndicated radio shows like Corsten’s Countdown, Tiësto’s Club Life, Above & Beyond’s Trance Around The World, and Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance.

Support has been rolling in for the young artist, and perhaps, even more so as his sound began to evolve in 2012 to include progressive house elements. His wildly successful gem “These Are The Days” was praised by many influential voices calling it a “catchy summer anthem,” and “an absolutely brilliant track.” This past November, Above & Beyond premiered Audien’s track “Wayfarer” as the first ever song played on their new radio show, Group Therapy.

With an innate ability to create fresh tracks, Audien is currently riding high with his recent remix for Bruno Mars track “Treasure.” We’re excited to watch Audien continue to grow as an artist and even more excited to see him perform at this year’s Sound Wave Block Party. Grab your tickets today to avoid hassles tomorrow!

Waka Flocka

After five years in the rap game Waka Flocka Flame has learned a lot, he’s matured musically and he’s accomplished more than most people can fathom when they start their ascent to the top. His first mixtape, Salute Me or Shoot Me, Vol. 1 featured Waka Flocka’s breakout hit “O Let’s Do It” and since that single hit the No. 7 spot on the charts he hasn’t looked back. Fast forward to 2013 and the man known as Waka Flocka Flame has gone through a rebirth of sorts and is continuing his journey with a new label (Atlantic Records) and a new management team (The Executive Club). When it comes to the reason why Waka has made this change in his career, the reasoning is simple–growth.

“I’m highly educated now music industry wise. I’m not just somebody jumping into a field I don’t know. I actually learned it through a couple of methods, put my blueprint out on display and it worked not just for me and the company I was working with, but numerous people’s careers,” Waka said. “Basically I know my shit now–I know what I need to win.”

With the release of Flockaveli in 2010, Waka Flocka’s debut album landed him at No. 6 on the Billboard charts and his mega successful hits “Hard In Da Paint,” “Grove St. Party” and “No Hands” featuring Wale and Roscoe Dash made him synonymous with party music. Success didn’t slow his grind down, though. In 2012 he released his official sophomore album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, & Family which featured heavy hitters Meek Mill, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Flo Rida and Drake who was featured on “Round Of Applause.”

With a track record like Waka’s it’s clear that his future is bright and that it’s starting right now. His new single “50K” featuring T.I. is taking it straight to the club; a reminder that he’s the king of Southern party music. Outside of T.I., Waka has recently worked with Frenchie, Lil Wayne, Britney Spears and The Cataracts. This is all part of the master plan leading up to the release of his highly anticipated third album titled Flockaveli II. The upcoming EP will feature collaborations with Ne-Yo, French Montana, Chaz Gotti, Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, MGK, Jeezy and more of music’s heavy hitters.

The man born Juaquin Malphurs in Jamaica, Queens and raised in Riverdale, GA is ready to show you exactly what evolution is all about. “I’m not bullsh*ttin’ ith this album. I’m going hard.” Get ready for the second coming of Waka Flocka Flame because he’s back, he isn’t going anywhere and he’s more ready than ever to show you how it’s really done.
